This document describes a mechanism for a restarting router to signalto its neighbors that it is restarting, allowing them to reestablishtheir adjacencies without cycling through the down state, while stillcorrectly initiating database synchronization.
This document additionally describes a mechanism for a restartingrouter to determine when it has achieved Link State Protocol DataUnit (LSP) database synchronization with its neighbors and amechanism to optimize LSP database synchronization, while minimizingtransient routing disruption when a router starts. This documentobsoletes RFC 3847. [STANDARDS-TRACK]
