Time Division Multiplexing over IP (TDMoIP) is a structure-awaremethod for transporting Time Division Multiplexed (TDM) signals usingpseudowires (PWs). Being structure-aware, TDMoIP is able to ensureTDM structure integrity, and thus withstand network degradationsbetter than structure-agnostic transport. Structure-aware methodscan distinguish individual channels, enabling packet loss concealmentand bandwidth conservation. Accessibility of TDM signalingfacilitates mechanisms that exploit or manipulate signaling. This memo provides information for the Internet community.
