Abstract

This document specifies the steps a host takes in deciding how toautoconfigure its interfaces in IP version 6. The autoconfigurationprocess includes generating a link-local address, generating globaladdresses via stateless address autoconfiguration, and the DuplicateAddress Detection procedure to verify the uniqueness of the addresseson a link.
