The Secure Shell (SSH) Protocol is a protocol for secure remote loginand other secure network services over an insecure network. Thisdocument describes the architecture of the SSH protocol, as well asthe notation and terminology used in SSH protocol documents. It alsodiscusses the SSH algorithm naming system that allows local extensions. The SSHprotocol consists of three major components: The Transport LayerProtocol provides server authentication, confidentiality, andintegrity with perfect forward secrecy. The User AuthenticationProtocol authenticates the client to the server. The ConnectionProtocol multiplexes the encrypted tunnel into several logicalchannels.
