West Ham United'sAlphonse Areola has won his firstCastrol Premier League Save of the Month award after taking the October 2023 prize for a superb stop fromAston Villa'sDouglas Luiz.
The score was 0-0 after 11 minutes at Villa Park whenWest Ham goalkeeper Areola dived full-length to his left to tip over a powerful long-range strike by the Brazilian.

Another superb save by Areola, this time fromEverton'sAbdoulaye Doucoure, was also shortlisted for the award.
He is both the first Frenchman and the first West Ham goalkeeper to win the honour.
Areola topped a shortlist featuringfive other sensational saves by goalkeepers across the month.
