Portal Construction is on course to hand over a new £25m headquarters for sports equipment retailer Net World Sports before the end of the year. 

The 411,000 sq ft facility, located on Wrexham Industrial Estate, will comprise a four-storey, 31,000 sq ft office and a 380,000 sq ft storage and distribution warehouse.

Additional features include an on-site gym, bar, restaurant, tennis court, football pitch and running track. 

Net World Sports is relocating from elsewhere within the industrial estate having outgrown its existing 130,000 sq ft head office. 

“We’re a business that is built by the people of Wrexham for the people of Wrexham, so we’re delighted to be committing our long-term future to the town,” said Alex Lovén, founder and managing director at Net World Sports. 

“We’re hugely excited to be delivering such a fantastic working environment for our staff and we’re sure that the new site will help us attract even more local talent whilst also leaving us better placed to achieve our ambitious growth targets.” 

Founded in 2009, Net World Sports has seen significant growth in recent years. The company’s latest annual results saw revenue rise by 74%, while profit increased by 146% year on year.

Portal began building the company’s new headquarters last September. 

“The scale of the project exceeds anything we’ve taken on before but we’ve made great progress and we’re excited to see the finishing product,” said Jon Pochin, construction manager at Portal Construction. 

The project team for the scheme includes architect C4 Projects, CBRE as planning consultant and Barry Chinn Associates as the landscape architect.
