TheSun-Speckled Terrace (ひだまりの庭?, lit.: "Courtyard of Sunlight") is the first mainarea inPikmin 4, unlocked after completing the tutorial in theRescue Command Post. It is set in a garden with many pots and bricks.Ice Pikmin,Yellow Pikmin andBlue Pikmin can be discovered in this area. There are 7rescues (5 regular castaways and 2leaflings) to be made, 34treasures (14 above ground and 20 underground), and 2Onions (a yellow and blue Onion respectively), as well as 2Flarlic bulbs. This area hasSparklium × 2,920 worth of treasure, of whichSparklium × 1,140 is above ground.

This is the first area in which players land in hopes to findCaptain Olimar, moreRescue Corps members, and moreSparklium. Here, the player usually findsRuss andDingo in some of the caves.

Layout[edit]

The following notable features can be found in this area.

  • As part of the playable terrain:
    • Various grassy and dirt terrain.
    • A wooden park bench with metal legs and armrests, though the top of the armrests have a wood slab attached.
    • A gray stepladder with a beige toolbox on top.
    • A slab of wood with a water tap coming out of it.
    • Various walls made of piled-up bricks.
    • Various colored planks of wood poking up from the ground, arranged together to form walls.
    • Pool tiles, alternating in a checkerboard pattern between white and blue.
    • A landing spot identified as "Rugged Scaffold".
    • A landing spot identified as "Ancient Arches".
  • As part of the background:
    • A large iron gate.
    • Surrounding the large gate are decorated stone walls with brick tops.
    • Stairs leading from the gate to the playable area.
    • Shelves with vases and potted plants on them.
    • A wheelbarrow wheel.
    • A tall house in the distance with a grey roof.

Dandori Challenge[edit]

ADandori Challenge cave can be found near the 3rd base, Meandering Slope. 20Ice Pikmin are needed to freeze the water surrounding it, andOatchi must jump onto the high ledge.

Dandori Battle[edit]

ADandori Battle cave can be found near the 3rd base, Meandering Slope. Aclay bridge must be built to access the ledge it's on.

Guide[edit]

When you first begin this area, traverse towards and completeLast-Frost Cavern, then move towards theMeandering Slope while collectingtreasures andcreatures along the way. If possible, try to collect theYellow Onion on this day, asYellow Pikmin will be useful for collecting treasures. Doing this should bring you to about 25% of the area. The next day, continue exploring Sun-Speckled Terrace, entering caves and collecting moretreasures until you can go to the next area,Blossoming Arcadia. However, if you want to 100% this area, continue exploring and collecting. It’s recommended to save theDandori Battle/Challenges last, as collectingCastaways and boostingOatchi’s abilities will help doing Dandori. Be aware that at least 30Ice Pikmin and 10 otherPikmin are required to obtain theBlue Onion, as well as 15Raw Materials. You should be able to complete this area in at least the first 10 days.

The Sun-Speckled Terrace is the first areaCaptain Olimar explores in hisShipwreck Tale.

Plot[edit]

Captain Olimar lands in the Sun-Speckled Terrace to find any missing parts for his ship, theS.S. Dolphin. He manages to find seven of his missing pieces along with the discovery of Red and Yellow Pikmin. The Pikmin help him in the collection of his ship parts and fending off dangerous creatures.

Layout[edit]

The layout of the Sun-Speckled Terrace in Olimar's Shipwreck Tale is almost identical to that of the area in the main story. The major differences are the objects and enemies present, along with the cave entrances and the body of water south of the Rugged Scaffold base not being present. The upper section of the area, where the Distant Summit base is located in the main story, is inaccessible during Olimar's exploration in the area.
