TheSearing Acidshock (セイコウノモト?, lit.: "Leader to Success") is afruit in Pikmin 3 and atreasure inPikmin 4. It is a green, unripenedJapanese apricot, also known as an ume. It takes three Pikmin tocarry, and gives one bottle of juice (half a bottle inUltra-Spicy mode). It also bears a slight resemblance to theLesser Mock Bottom, although they're entirely different fruits. There are four Searing Acidshocks inPikmin 3's Story Mode, appearing in theTropical Wilds,Garden of Hope, andTwilight River, and three inPikmin 4's, in theBlossoming Arcadia,Hero's Hideaway, andPrimordial Thicket.

Collecting the fruit[edit]

The strategies shown are just suggestions.

Tropical Wilds[edit]

Location of the Searing Acidshock in the Tropical Wilds.

At the far end of the large body of water guarded by aHermit Crawmad, there is a passage to another large area. Adirt wall must be destroyed, revealing a large, round area with a small chunk of land in the middle. Defeat thePuckering Blinnows in the surrounding water, and you will find aCalcified Crushblat on the chunk of land. Using nearbyCandypop Buds, Rock Pikmin can be obtained to defeat the Crushblat, which has the Searing Acidshock. Use the Candypop Buds once again to transform the Rock Pikmin back intoBlue Pikmin, and carry back the fruit. Alternatively, you can destroy the creature easily with threebomb rocks.

Garden of Hope[edit]

Crystal[edit]

AfterLouie has been saved from theScornet Maestro, he will run away, destroying the cinder block in theGarden of Hope, opening up a new section.Blue Pikmin must be used to retrieve submerged fragments in order to build a bridge across to a tiled chunk of land. AWaddlepus will be found here, along with aBurgeoning Spiderwort and a largecrystal which contains the Searing Acidshock. Upon destroying the crystal, the fruit will be ready to be taken back.

Bug-Eyed Crawmad[edit]

Another Searing Acidshock is found in the area beyond the cinder block, and is inside aBug-Eyed Crawmad next to a large pile of fragments. The creature is surrounded by water on both sides, soBlue orWinged Pikmin must be used to fight it. Winged Pikmin make for a quicker fight, since they automatically fly up to the creature's eye-stalks without needing to throw.

Twilight River[edit]

Searing Acidshock

Usinglily pads, you must cross the river north of the landing site and head to the west until coming across aPuffy Blowhog. Close to the edge of the river in the area there are someFlukeweeds. One requires 3 Winged Pikmin to lift and holds the Searing Acidshock. Thanks to a branch nearby that leads directly back to theDrake, the return trip should be very quick for this fruit.

Collecting the treasure[edit]

The following article or section containsguides.
The strategies shown are just suggestions.

Blossoming Arcadia[edit]

There is a Searing Acidshock near of aWaddlequaff at the eastern edge of the overworld. To collect this treasure, you must build theclimbing wall on the western wall, located next to the sequence ofjars, and then either be quick enough so the Waddlequaff doesn't swallow it, or get it out of the Waddlequaff. To do so, either defeat the creature, or force it to spit it out with enough damage, then distract the enemy while the treasure is being carried off.

Hero's Hideaway[edit]

There is a Searing Acidshock hidden on the floor, inside somejars, near the northeastern corner of the kitchen floor. To collect it, you must break the jars, defeat the twoGildemandwees that appear, and then throw 3 Pikmin at it.

Primordial Thicket[edit]

See also:Baldy Long Legs strategy.

There is a Searing Acidshock inside of aBaldy Long Legs near the south of the overworld, at the Autumnal Gullybase. To collect this treasure, you must first defeat the Baldy Long Legs, then throw 3 Pikmin at it.

Ack! Sour! So sour! I feel like my taste buds have been sucker punched! We can't afford to waste edible fruit, but this one will need to be pickled or something before anyone would willingly eat it. On the plus side, I'll never forget that face Alph made...

Ooh! Sour! So sour! I feel like my taste buds have been turned inside-out! We can't afford to waste edible fruit, but this one will need to be pickled or something before anyone would willingly eat it. On the plus side, I'll never forget the face that Alph made...

Schnauz's notes[edit]

Try eating this fruit when it's green and unripe, and you'll end up with a mouth full of acidic burning. But give it time to ripen, and it will not only taste sweet on the tongue but restore your energy and give you the endurance to realize great ambitions!

Olimar's notes[edit]

In my youth, I used to power through long night shifts by sucking on sour fruit candy. It somehow energized me and kept me wide awake! I couldn't do that now, even with the candy, but it's an example of how sometimes things turning sour can work out for the best!

Louie's notes[edit]

My face scrunches up into a little prune every time I eat this fruit, just like Nana's does. Might be genetic.

Trivia[edit]

  • Umes are often pickled, turning into the dish "umeboshi", or Japanese salt plums. They have a strong sour and salty taste. This is why Brittany suggests pickling the Searing Acidshock to make it more palatable.
