Changes[edit]

This port is built off of the US version ofNew Play Control! Pikmin, meaning that unless stated otherwise, all changes from that version also apply to this game. On top of that and the changes common to both this game andPikmin 2 (Nintendo Switch), which are listedhere, the following additional changes exist.

Gameplay[edit]

  • The infamouscrushing glitch is now less common.
  • TheSecret Safe now requires 40 Pikmin to lift in all versions, not just in international regions.

Graphics[edit]

  • The majority of the UI elements and a few environmental textures have been upscaled, using a combination of reused original high quality artwork, creating new high quality art, and upscales of the original textures.
  • TheEmperor Bulblax now displays a shadow in all regions (beginning with version 1.1.0).

Text[edit]

  • The copyright on the title screen has been changed to "© Nintendo".

Audio[edit]

  • A few sounds play differently, such as the Onion ejecting seeds.
  • Somemusic instruments are slightly out of tune.
  • Since theattract mode cutscenes have been removed, Japanese players can also no longer hearAi no Uta.

Other[edit]

  • The logo on the game's box art has been updated to resemble the modernPikmin series logo, along with it now being known asPikmin 1.
  • Theenemy reel has received several changes:
    • All of the gameplay has been re-recorded, now being more accurate to the game's actual gameplay.
    • A different font is used, and all of the text is center-aligned.
    • The text fades in, rather than getting "written" in like the original.
    • TheSwooping Snitchbug is placed correctly in the reel's alphabetical order.
    • In the US version, theWogpole,Wollywog, andYellow Wollywog are renamed to Wolpole, Wollyhop, and Yellow Wollyhop respectively.
    • Instead of a dark filter closing in around a creature to highlight it, a smear effect is instantly placed.
  • "THE END" screen at the end of the credits uses different renders of Captain Olimar and the Pikmin.
  • Despite the game being based off of theNew Play Control! version, the GameCube cursor is used.
  • When Olimar takes damage, the screen shakes and turns red briefly.

Other information[edit]

  • Game size: 1.09 GB.
  • Supported play modes: TV (1 player), tabletop (1 player), and handheld (1 player).
  • Supported controllers: two Joy-Cons, and Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.
