TheMiniature Snootwhacker (コバナタタキ?, lit.: "Little Nose-Knocker") is anelephant-likeenemy inPikmin 4. It is the younger form of theMammoth Snootwhacker, and like it, it is immune to most physical attacks from Pikmin, evenRock Pikmin. Its belly is its weak spot, and can only be exposed by charging at it withOatchi, using alightning shock, or detonating abomb rock or other explosive item near the creature.

Behavior[edit]
When alone, Miniature Snootwhackers waddle around slowly. When noticing the player or Pikmin, they start waddling quickly towards the intended target. To attack, they will use their trunk to do a spinning attack. If this attack hits their target, they are briefly knocked into the air and sent a moderate distance away from where they were hit. If Oatchi hits a Miniature Snootwhacker with a rush, it will flip and reveal its soft belly, which is able to be damaged by Pikmin and/or Oatchi. When the Miniature Snootwhacker regains it's footing after being flipped, it will knock off any Pikmin attacking it. The Miniature Snootwhacker is unable to kill Pikmin.
Appearance[edit]
The Miniature Snootwhacker is a small, green, elephant-like creature with a bright red underbelly and a small version of theMammoth Snootwhacker, its older counterpart. Its color palette and texture resemble that of a watermelon.

Due to the creature's hard skin, it cannot be attacked directly. UsingOatchi's Rush attack is the simplest and most effective method to flip the Snootwhacker over in order to attack its soft underbelly. If the Miniature Snootwhacker reacts before beaten, just try again Oatchi’s rush. In caves likeUltimate Testing Range, the Miniature Snootwhacker will appear after anIron fence, blocking the way for Oatchi. But you can still surround the fence over the parts that are the ground’s edge. In the Dream Home, the situation is a lot harder. There is or a climbing wall to access the Miniature Snootwhacker, so you can useGlow Pikmin to create a Glowmob and toss the Snootwhacker over.

“Immediately after birth, this species's skin starts to harden, and before long it will reach the same impenetrable toughness as that of an adult.
Adult Snootwhackers dexterously use their trunks to grab food from high tree branches, but juveniles consume fruits and nuts that have fallen to the ground, as well as other types of terrestrial flora.

- Common name: Miniature Snootwhacker. The "miniature" helps describe their smaller nature in comparison to full grown variety.
- Japanese nickname:コバナタタキ?, lit.: "Little Nose-Knocker". "Little" is used to differentiate it from theMammoth Snootwhacker.
- Japanese name:クロスジマキバナウリ 幼体?, lit.: "Black-streaked Coiled Nose Melon (juvenile)".
- Scientific name:Naspiralum melona (adolescent).Naspiralum comes from "nasal" and "spiral", eluding to their trunks. The specific namemelona comes from how their coloration makes them resemble watermelons.
