MANILA, Philippines - Dito na natatapos ang pa­ngarap ng Nationals na makalarong muli sa Olympic Games sapul noong 1972.

Kumulapso ang isang 11-point lead sa kaagahan ng fourth quarter at naimintis ang lima sa huling walong freethrows, natalo ang Smart Gilas Pilipinas sa matiyagang South Korea, 68-70, sa agawan para sa third place trophy ng 26th FIBA-Asia Men’s Championships kahapon sa Wuhan, China.

Nauna nang nabigo ang Smart Gilas sa Jordan, 61-75, sa semifinal round noong Sabado.

Ipinoste ng Nationals ang malaking 54-43 lamang sa 7:32 ng fourth quarter mula sa three-point shot ni 2011 PBA Most Valuable Player Jimmy Alapag bago nakadikit ang mga Koreans sa 61-63 sa 2:53 nito galing sa isang four-point play ni Cho Sung-min kay Chris Lutz.

Huling nahawakan ng Smart Gilas ang unahan sa 65-61 galing sa basket ni 6-foot-11 naturalized Marcus Douthit sa 1:46 ng laro kasunod ang dalawang sunod na tres nina Cho at Moon Tae-jong para ibigay sa Korea, natalo sa China, 43-56, sa semis, ang 67-75 abante sa hu­ling 47.3 segundo.
