Effective half-life of polonium in the human

Technical Report·
OSTI ID:7162390

A method of determining the effective half-life of Po in the human is described. In a study of the urinary excretion data of eighteen human cases, calculations based on the analyses of the urine samples submitted result in a overall average effective half-life of 31.4 days. Because of the many influencing factors affecting this study, an approximate thirty-day effective human half-life is suggested, until such time as controlled experiments and more efficient procedures can permit a more accurate determination.
