• I am ticked off about the Gators now going through four losing coaches and still nothing good to come out of this, other than millions spent on buy-out salaries and losing seasons. They play that Tom Petty song at the end of the third quarter, “I Won’t Back Down,” which is good and uplifting but they need to change now and play his other hit song, “Free fallin’.”
• I’m ticked off that the state of Texas, since open carry was approved in 2016, has seen a reduction in violent crimes. So you can cherry pick data to support your case but the fact is when bad guys see three men carrying guns they will think twice before committing a crime. Guns don’t kill people; people kill people. Once again, where is the common sense people?
• Ticked off with all those making suggestions to those who are ticked off with Publix’s decision to allow open carry in their stores: let it go. Many of us choose not to shop in open carry stores. I go a bit further and choose not to shop where guns are allowed, including concealed carry, and will call out in that store if concealed carry is present where no guns allowed is the policy of that private business. I vote with my wallet.
• Can a local news station please go back to having reporters instead of community correspondents.  The “title” just doesn’t work.
• It ticks me off that our government is shut down while the Speaker of the House refuses to reconvene Congress and deal with it, and the President is busy destroying the White House to create a palace.  All this while they are still getting paid. Really?

The flip side

• Thank you for printing Rose is Rose in your daily funnies.  My spouse and I have been married more than 40 years.  We took a play from Rose and Jimbo’s playbook and start each day with a long kiss (30 seconds to a minute or more) and even a couple times more during the day.  It was forced at first but soon became natural.  We sometimes giggle or hum during the kiss.  I can’t say how our relationship is better, but it is, thanks to Jimbo and Rose’s example.
