Step 1.Check your eligibility and options
Reclaimed water is only available in certain service areas within the City of Orlando. Start your request online to see if your address is in one of these areas and proceed if you'd like to check your reclaimed water options.
Check For Reclaimed Water
We will review your information and get in touch with our recommendations.
Step 2.Get a plumbing permit and install your irrigation system
If approved, you will need aplumbing permit to:
- Re-plumb an existing irrigation system, or
- Install a new irrigation system.
Once approved, work with your contractor to install the irrigation system and meter according to city specifications.
You’ll also need to set up a reclaimed water account with OUC, the utility provider for the City of Orlando. Note that the City’s Engineering Standards Manual will guide your meter installation, and OUC will only handle the account setup and meter sale.
Step 3.Schedule a final inspection
After installation, schedule a post-construction inspection with the city.
Schedule an Inspection
We will contact you within two business days to arrange this. After the inspection, we'll let you know your results and any other steps to take before using your reclaimed water.
Step 4.If your property is part of a Homeowners Association (HOA)
- Place signs with HOA emergency contact information for reclaimed water issues.
- The HOA is responsible for any repairs or issues inside the gate or beyond the meter.
Step 5.Ongoing maintenance and monitoring
OUC will read your reclaimed water meter monthly for billing purposes. The City of Orlando will:
- Conduct cross-connection inspections on residential irrigation systems bi-annually and commercial systems annually.
- Inspect all back-flow devices annually.
