Best viewing : Enjoy a natural amphitheatre of vivid colour at Kettle’s Lake with a walk around the Wendat Trail. The Park’s Georgian Bay waterfront and Beach Trail offers the best September viewing while the main Awenda Park Road often features a tunnel of subtle yellows right through until November.

Best viewing : We recommend visitors walk through the closed Cedar and Maple campgrounds to enjoy the beautiful maple trees in those areas. Visitors will enjoy the Lookout Trail as portions of the trail have Staghorn Sumac that will soon start to turn a beautiful vibrant red.

Best viewing : The best place to view the stunning fall colours is the Burk Trail Viewing Platform (also known as “the lookout”). This is located roughly in the middle of the Burk Trail, west of the Park Office and the Pioneer Cemetery, north of Day Use 2, and east of Day Use 3. The Burk Trail can be accessed across the road from the Park Store, by the Park Office, from the McLaughlin Bay Trail, or the Waterfront Trail.

Best viewing : With over 100 km of hiking trails, Frontenac provides excellent fall colour viewing opportunities. Two trails that are sure to provide a beautiful fall colour experience are Doe Lake Loop (3 km) and Dedication Trail (2.4 km one way). Best viewing : For the best views, look out from the boat launch across Inverhuron Bay. Maloney Trail is predominantly mature hardwoods and offers full immersion under the canopy of colours.
Kakabeka Falls -Report Date : October 10, 2024

Best viewing : Enjoy the thunder of Kakabeka Falls amongst the fall colours this season via the Boardwalk Trail around the top of the falls with various viewing pods. Walk a little further along the Mountain Portage Trail for additional river and falls views. If you are up for more of a challenge, take the 2.5 km loop of Little Falls Trail or try the Poplar Point Trail. Throughout the latter trail you will see many shades of autumn colours and may even get lucky to see some wildlife.

Best viewing : To enjoy the beauty of fall, we recommend hiking to the lookout on the Granite Ridge Trail or bringing a picnic lunch to the bog area of our Cranberry Bog Trail.  If you’re looking to beat the crowds, making the trip to Lake of the Woods Trail is sure to reward you with a more solitary experience.  For all our trails, we recommend making sure you have sturdy footwear and bring lots of water with you.

Best viewing : The best fall colours can be seen along the main park road, the Recreational Trail, and the Lookout Point Trail. Colours usually peak around Thanksgiving weekend but stay surprisingly strong throughout October due to the golden glow of the American Beech trees.
Lake Superior -Report Date : November 4, 2024

Best viewing : Spectacular views of Lake Superior’s fall colours can be enjoyed by simply driving through the park along the Trans-Canada Highway or down Mijinemungshing Road. Crescent Lake Trail, Pinguisibi (Sand River) Trail, and the first portion of Towab Trail to Burnt Rock Pool offer accessible yet stunning hiking through maple studded forests. For those up for more challenging hiking, Orphan Lake Trail, and Peat Mountain Trail deliver breathtaking views overlooking rolling hills of colour. The Nokomis Trail, a moderate hike, provides views of the transition between the brilliant reds and oranges of the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Forest and the golden hues of the boreal forest. Crescent Lake, Mijinemungshing Lake, and Rabbit Blanket Lake are especially beautiful routes for fall paddling. Visitors should note that given the size and forest diversity of the park, colour change can vary greatly between the north and south ends of Lake Superior Provincial Park.

Best viewing : Within the Firefly Campground and as you go towards Turtle Dunes or Monarch Landing you are surrounded by cottonwoods, willows and Silver Maples changing into their fall colours. Watch for any moving orange leaves, you may spot Monarch Butterflies that come to rest in Long Point's trees before migrating to Mexico.

Pigeon River -Report Date : October 10, 2024

Best viewing : Enjoy the fall colours as they engulf High Falls (High Falls Trail) and Middle Falls (Middle Falls Walk). Hike to the end of the Finger Point Trail for scenic views of Lake Superior surrounded by beautiful autumn colours. The Lookout Trail also provides a sweeping fall view of the adjacent landscape.

Best viewing : Pinery’s oaks present rusty red and orange tones late in the season, with fall wildflowers in the understory displaying beautiful yellows and purples. Sassafras Trail offers great fall colour viewing opportunities.

Best viewing : There are two areas in Presqu'ile that provide beautiful fall colours. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the road leading into our Group Camping Area north of the trailhead parking lot. Craigs Campground also offers beautiful colours for those looking to plan a fall camping trip.

Best viewing : The dominant fall leaf colour in Quetico is yellow. Aspen, tamarack, and birch are found throughout the backcountry of the park along with pockets of smaller red maples. Quetico’s Dawson Trail Campground has numerous day hiking opportunities which offer opportunities to take in the fall colours.

Best viewing : As the colours begin to change in mid-September to early October, check out Spicebush Trail for great views. Later in the season the eastern side of the park and the Black Oak Trail will display the golds and burgundies of oak trees.

Best viewing : The best area to view the fall colours is at the entrance of the park on Sauble Falls Road.

Best viewing : Silent Lake has many beautiful scenic locations to view fall colours. Silent Lake offers three hiking trails that offer plenty of opportunities to view fall colours: Lakehead Loop (1.5 km), Bonnies Pond (3 km), and the Lakeshore Hiking Trail (15 km). These trails offer a variety of viewpoints such as a lookout, beaches, heavily forested areas, and many lakeside viewing areas. Other prominent viewing areas include the Day Use Beach and Camper’s Beach.

Best viewing : The drive along Highway 587 provides some of the best fall colours viewing in Sleeping Giant Provincial Park. Thunder Bay Lookout is an excellent viewpoint for fall colours as is the gorge on the Top of the Giant Trail. For a shorter hike to enjoy fall colours, check out the Sea Lion Trail.

Best viewing : Campers will be treated to beautiful colours throughout the campground. Due to shoreline erosion, the Day Use Area has reduced parking capacity and amenities. Visitors should plan accordingly and make alternate arrangements in the event that the Day Use Area is full, and parking is not available.
