The Cook islands are officially part of New Zealand but bear no resemblance to the country of The Lord of the Rings. While the main island is volcanic and mountainous, Cook Islands is best known for Aitutaki Lagoon, one of the most beautiful lagoons in the world and an absolutely gorgeous place with crystalline shallow waters and incredible shades of blue.

What better way of rounding up the year than with the best sunsets I have seen? And I have seen many, from Bora Bora on 1st Jan to what I hope will be the best yet, Namibia

Starting in Bora Bora and the Cook islands and crossing the Pacific, Asia, Europe and the US I ended the year in Namibia, Africa. All continents covered in 2015

With thousands of islands the South Pacific has fabulous beaches on which to get lost. These are just seven of the most glorious ones

A legend filled with love. A new passport stamp. A sandbank. Ice cold drinks. The peace that only a warm deserted tropical island can provide. One Foot Island in Aitutaki Lagoon, Cook Islands is a tiny speck of paradise in the South Pacific

The South Pacific is such a breathtaking part of the world that you often get overloaded by its beauty. I am completely taken aback by the blues and the crystal clear warm waters on a day island hopping in Aitutaki lagoon

As always, my plans for the year in travel include a host of random, incongruent and remote destinations with a luxury twist. If it isn’t out of the ordinary, it is unlikely to feature on my plan!

Everything you need to know about the Cook Islands so that you are not surprised or caught unprepared. Not seeing any dogs on Aitutaki? Looking to know more about the culture? Wondering where to eat local food? It’s all here

Even for non religious people Sunday Church in the Pacific is the most spiritual, entertaining, fascinating and eye-opening experience. Get ready for wide brim hats, white outfits and the who is who in town
