Wancho (वांचो)

Wancho is a member of the Konyak branch of the Brahmaputran language family. It is spoken mainly in the southwest of Tirap district in Arunachal Pradesh state in the northeast of India, and also in the states of Assam and Nagaland. In 2011 there were about 59,200 speakers of Wancho, which is also known as Wancho Naga, Banpara Naga, Joboka, Jokoba or Naga Wancho.

Wancho is usually written with the Devanagari or Latin alphabets. A new alphabet, known as theWancho script, is also used to some extent and taught in some schools.
