No, it's nowhere near a record of any kind. The record for the longest consecutive time spent in the UK top 10 is 35 weeks, so she's not even halfway near it.

        Chart Review 19/07/24

Guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, Danana, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, danana- oh, sorry.

I'M FINALLY ON TIME!! KIND OF! MY SUMMER HOLIDAYS ARE UP! NOTHING CAN STOP ME NOW!

Except, maybe, for how utterly static the chart has been in the past couple months. Not to be pedantic or anything, but Dasha's spent so many weeks at 9 and 10 I'm genuinely shocked she hasn't ran for Prime Minister yet. And don't get me started on the Carpenter duology.

Speaking of which, it's business as usual in the circle of life that is the Sabrina Carpenter 1-2 (Espresso overpowering Please Please Please, if anyone was guessing), as Shaboozey contemplates his life decisions for a 7th (SEVENTH) time in 3rd place. Seriously, how unlucky must he be? I don't care if he ends up a 1-hit wonder, just let him have his moment for one week. It would make my day somewhat easier to enjoy, don't you think?

Ah well. There's always Eminem. His latest album came out last Friday and if you hadn't already known by now, it's basically one long charade about how his Slim Shady persona is gonna pick up it's P45. And boy, does he not want you to forget it. It also had an actual single, the first time since 2013 he hasn't thrown an LP out and hoped for the best. My thoughts on this are the same for every rap album nowadays. I couldn't care less. But everyone with a Spotify account has naturally taken it to heart, and joining Houdini (up to 4 today) in the UK Top 20 are Habits at 11, where he duets with a guy called White Gold who isn't credited and honestly I couldn't give one if he was, and Renaissance at 13, the traditional Eminem album skit opener where we sit through 90 seconds of your usual white-boy white-hair some-thrills hiphop before suddenly snapping back to reality and realising 'Oh. I'm 51 years old. I shouldn't keep acting like I laugh at Skibidi Toilet jokes and showing off my Drake/Kendrick conspiracy theories.' Besides, he can rhyme orange with banana, so it's kinda hard to disapprove of his antics.

So Eminem did his thing, obvs, but hot on his heels is the shocking revelation that the England football team has weird musical tastes. Seeing them shaft it in the final on Sunday brought a wry smile on my face, as I could now prepare myself for a safe, unthreatening chart battle. Bang on the money I was. 3 Lions doesn't do as well as it set out to do, only fighting it's way to Number 8, a 4-place drop from the last time 25 million people witnessed the inevitable in 2021. And that disappointment stretches along to the rest of the footie hits. Only 1 other song ends up in the best-sellers, but in a funny twist of events, it's not the one you think. Vindaloo, Sweet Caroline and World In Motion all bottled it after the midweeks, but creeping it's way to 36 is Dancing In The Dark by Bruce Springsteen, a song which got to No.4 nearly forty years ago, but has now found a second wind because people associate it with Phil Foden now. Even though he was GARBAGE at Euro 2024. Hasn't stopped me from loving it. And given Bruce hasn't had a hit since 2002, it's the best we can hope for.

As usual in weeks like these, the other new hits get sorely overlooked, so thankfully you can always rely on me to give your idols some love. In at 15 is Ice Spice who you could forgive for being somewhat unfortunate in the past 12 months. Ever since she contributed to Boy's A Liar's massive success and popped up on a Taylor Swift song, the new Nicki Minaj has found it tough to get much success. Only her duets with Nicki have ended up Top 40, the likes of Deli and Think U The S*** struggling to make their marks on society as a whole. Maybe a duet with Central Cee can help? It worked for D-Block Europe and Dave, it can work for the lady who real name is an Egyptian goddess (Isis, if anyone had figured that out yet). So yeah, Did It First predictably slams its way into the upper reaches, and could probably do better if it weren't for the literal DESERT that is the Top 10 right now. Just don't admit to anyone that you like it. Because people think CC is a plague spreader. And to be honest, he probably is with the amount of people he can get a hit for.

As for the other new hit, breaking through the barrier at No.39 is Move, a slightly Afrobeaty tune (better than most dance songs nowadays) by a guy called Adam Port. Normally I'd just end these faceless dance acts here and move on with my life, but I have to alert you to the credits. It's a mess. So you have the Fatboy Slim lookalike that is Adam Port, that's all well and good. Stryv, a guy who helped produce that VULTURES album no one cared about, and, erm..., Spicy Margarita by Jason Derulo and Michael Bublé, he gets one. Adam's label Keinemusik gets one for some arbitrary reason. Orso, a DJ project where Stryv is a member, but not Adam Port, they are apparently good enough for one. And finally, there is under-the-radar singer Malachiii that's been a given a credit. Yeah, no, I am definitely shortening this week whenever this charts. Remember that Baddadan fiasco? I may have contributed to that.

Outside the 40 and prepare the hype train because Apple by Charli XCX has shot up to No.42, so that's an easy hit next week sorted. Also just outside, I've got a new challenge for you. Try not to make a negative comment about the new Katy Perry song. Because it's dire. The somewhat obvious female empowerment messages, the fact she's working with Dr Luke (remember those allegations? I don't.), the realisation that this song is as dated as spoilt milk. I could go on all day. Not even physical copies could get this higher than 47. It's that bad. Her so-called chart rival Kylie Minogue hasn't fared any better either, My Oh My limping to 63, meanwhile the now independent Kesha swings her way to 88, an album track by Megan Thee Stallion pops up, and Iranian-Dutch powerhouse Sevdalisa finally pops her cherry at 74. Even though, sadly, Alibi reminds me of some generic Latin fluff. Not her fault, of course, but I'm slightly underwhelmed.

Out today we have albums from Childish Gambino, Jimin, SOFT PLAY, Glass Animals, and Denzel Curry all attempt to get our hopes up, meanwhile NewEra have a new 'song' for us, James Bay drags Noah Kahan along in an attempt to stay relevant, Mabel returns with her new flop (did Look At My Body do anything?), Rex Orange County is back, Paris Paloma shyly slinks back into the spotlight, and the final piece of the Little Mix puzzle has been placed as Jade Thirlwell, sorry, JADE (wouldn't want to confuse her with the girl group now) releases her debut single. After hearing it, it's the best thing from a solo Mixer, but not by that much. So obviously it's gonna go Top 10. Minimum. Ta.

        THE TIER THAT ROCKS:

Chappell Roan [6], Charli XCX [29] (Can I take back my comments I made about BRAT yet?), Taylor Swift ft. Post Malone [38], Chappell Roan [27], Shaboozey [3]

        THE TIER THAT ROLLS:

Bruce Springsteen [36] (EH!? 😐), Billie Eilish [22], Sabrina Carpenter [1], Taylor Swift [26] (The single announcement is the only reason it's improved a tier.), Kendrick Lamar [12]

        THE TIER THAT GROOVES:

Sabrina Carpenter [2], Tommy Richman [34], The Blessed Madonna/Clementine Douglas [33], Billie Eilish [5], Jordan Adetunji [21], Ice Spice/Central Cee [15]

        THE TIER THAT IMPROVES:

Eminem [4], Adam Port/Stryv/A Bunch of Other Folk [39] (This joke definitely won't get annoying. Just like Rudimental and Chase & Status.), Billie Eilish [37], Central Cee ft. Lil Baby [14], Teddy Swims [30]

        THE TIER THAT ERRRRRRRRR:

Eminem [13], Noah Kahan [35], Post Malone & Morgan Wallen [10], Mark Ambor [16], Quavo & Lana Del Rey [40], Coldplay [25], Dasha [9]

        THE TIER THAT SLEEPS:

Myles Smith [7], Taylor Swift [17], Eminem [11], The Kid LAROI [32], Hozier [19]

        THE TIER THAT STINKS:

        Baddiel/Skinner/Lightning Seeds [8], Benson Boone [18], BL3SS/CamrinWatsin/bbyclose [24]

        THE UNFORGIVABLY AWFUL TIER:

David Guetta & OneRepublic [23], Benson Boone [20], Michael Marcagi [28] (25 weeks in the Top 40 and I haven't liked it ONCE.), Teddy Swims [31]

        NEWBIES:

Eminem - Habits [11] (Yeah I kinda fell asleep hearing this, but no matter, the usual late era Eminem song does that to me.)

Eminem - Renaissance [13] (Where were you lot streaming Public Service Announcement 2000?)

Ice Spice/Central Cee - Did It First [15] (Can't lie, they could've made it longer. You're not Tommy Richman.)

Katy Perry - WOMAN'S WORLD [47] (Never try to be Charli XCX ever again.)

Kylie Minogue/Bebe Rexha/Tove Lo - My Oh My [63] (A BuzzJack user's . Shame about the end result though.)

        Sevdaliza/Pabllo Vittar/Yseult - Alibi [74] (Eh, at least you ain't Bad Bunny.)

Kesha - JOYRIDE [88] (Make that 7 years since she last had a hit. That's all to see here, move on.)

Megan Thee Stallion/Yuki Chiba - Mamushi [96] (Donating half a song to a Japanese guy isn't really my vibe, lady.)

(P.S. Get ready for the backlash next week. Because looking at the fan reaction for ANGEL OF MY DREAMS, it seems I'm gonna need the luck I can get.)

last weekend i went to the travis scott concert and im still alive. i made it out of that hellhole when he performed no bystanders. bad timing with my mental health just struck so i wasn’t gonna appreciate the concert. but i feel more awful because ive lost so much aura in the process.

and it doesn’t help that my brother was so set in stone on taking me and not selling off my ticket to someone else like i asked for. travis makes decent music, i just don’t listen to him anymore and don’t feel safe at a concert of his

and don’t get me started on that SUPER cringe moment when travis stopped the music to humiliate two fans who were sat down. with all due respect, jacques, go to h3ll. they paid for the ticket, they can do what they want.

the venue itself is beautiful though, love the lighting.

Fake results on the Top 10 sounds about right. As the correct results of the Top 4 are actually Top 2 of the Top 100 update and Top 2 of the Top 20 and that is AI counts

        1) Sabrina - Expresso

        2) Eminem - Houdini

        3) Shaboozey - A Bar Song

        4) Please Please Please

But I am glad they decided to pull back the rubber band on Eminem but Expresso they let retain though they should have pulled that rubber band as well and tranquized it with a units penalty in it's own right give us the different number one in Tipsy people are quitting the chart because of 0.5 divisions ACR/SCR fake Top 10s and tracks starting to get on their nerves the MTV 3 hour version hosts all quit for only a 1:45 version now when we had 2:15 even with ads when MTV aired it which is longer coverage more numbers.

Big 40 did the correct thing giving us a Tipsy Top of the Pops to break up the rubber band and BS none of us like.

Disappointed that ‘Illusion’ left the Top 40 and that ‘Sweet Caroline’ didn’t hold on, although I definitely wasn’t expecting ‘Dancing In The Dark’ to make it!

I probably won’t check out the Eminem’s latest album but I was impressed by ‘Renaissance’ (even if it only lasts 1 minute and 38 seconds).

As for ‘Woman’s World’… yeah, I’m glad it missed. I don’t hate it but it was absolutely underwhelming. I’m more disappointed that Katy is working with Dr Luke than the actual quality here! 😔

We’re seriously not going to make ‘Kisses’ a thing, are we? I’m sorry, the production is fine but the vocals are incredibly grating to the point where I have to mute the radio. :/

Even if she unfortunately didn’t get any entries in the singles chart today, I’m delighted that Griff made it into the Top 3 with her debut studio album! ❤️

Also, for any dance music lovers here, I highly recommend the Salute album which dropped on the same day. :)

‘Apple’ may not be among my favourites from ‘BRAT’ but it’s still good to see it advancing up the chart. Would be amazing if Charli ended up getting a fourth Top 40 hit from the album! 😊

Hopefully ‘360’ can make it to a new peak next week.

I kind of wanted to Sabrina to see chart success earlier tbh. Her mid-2010s singles were really good!
