Megan Thee Stallion has collected her first #1 song on my charts with “Captain Hook”. This song beats her personal best for “Savage”, that song making #4 on my lists.

        My top 10predictions for Friday:
        1. Rockstar by Dababy, Roddy Rich (non mover).
        2. Breaking me by Topic, A7S (up 1).
        3. Rain on me by Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande (down 1).
        4. Trollz - 6ix9ine by Nicki Minaj (new entry).
        5. Dinner Guest by AJ Tracey, Mo Stack (up 1).
        6. Rover - Simba by DTG (down 3) .
        7. Secrets - Regard by RAYE (up 6).
        8. Toosie Slide by Drake (down 1).
        9. Don't need love by 22 Kid, Gracie (up 3).
        10. Watermelon Sugar by Harry Styles (up 5).

I think it will be the last week at number 1 on Friday for 'Rockstar' because ACR will most likely kick in the week after this, as it is now set to be on its second decline. I also think 'Watermelon sugar', 'Secrets' and 'Don't need love' will end up in the top 10 this week. Dropping out the top ten this week, I think 'Savage' will be at #11, just missing out on a 7th week in the top 10, 'I dunno' 12, 'Blinding lights' at 14, and 'Death bed' coming to the end of its top 10 run, thanks to ACR at 21. Hopefully Ella Henderson will be able to get to at least the top 50 with her new single 'Take care of you' and I think 'Savage love' will land itself at 18 this Friday, thanks to its Tiktok success. I'm also hoping 'Be kind' can re-enter at 35 on Friday. Thanks for reading!

Obviously, I never intended for Kashmir to hit the charts, it’s meant for clubs.

But what about this? Yeah, I hope this does become a huge hit! It’s Juice WRLD and Lil Uzi Vert in the same song, with two additional rappers who deliver great flows over a trippy trap beat.

I know it’s unlikely to do so, but I’d love for this to get in the charts! :)

I like this! Sure, it’s different to what Kygo did in the past, but I like this more chilled vibe from him, and the electric guitar at the start is really good, as well as the echoes in Kim Petras’ vocals. Maybe a light 7/10 for now! :)

I definitely like Kygo's more chilled sound as much as I enjoy the swell of his mainstream pop hits.

Kim's vocals are so amazing, which is why 'Malibu' is on course for the Top 5 & another future #1 contender, so if you liked her voice on 'Broken Glass', you might enjoy 'Malibu' too!

Hello fellas. I tried to post a review but they won't even publish it, it says it's "waiting to be approved". So I'm gonna officially announce my retirement as a reviewer after 11 weeks of mostly getting taken down for spam, lol. Oh well! Catch you guys around, I frequent the Talk Of The Charts discord server if you're interested. Have a good one.

Hello. Last week my review got taken down for spam again, this week it shouldn’t happen because there’s just one new entry in a week of inactivity in the midst of BLM. It’s a shame that we didn’t get any re-entries for any riot-related songs, as now is the perfect time to put black voices first and understand that we only experience some of the human experience, not the full picture, however we do have a BLM remix of “Rockstar” as of yesterday, and a politically charged Lil Baby song coming. Speaking of “Rockstar” it holds the #1 spot, in fact there’s no movement at all in the top 3. “Breaking Me” continues its gains, hopefully it will peak soon, and “Death Bed” peaks. Definitely more traction here than in the US.
Let’s have a look at some notable gains and re-entries. “Break My Heart” rises to #11, it’s only a few points away from reaching 1000 inverted points. Definitely more traction here than the US. “Secrets” hits a new peak, which I’m happy about, I’ll take this over “Breaking Me” any day. “Watermelon Sugar” rises, looks like off the back of this video we’ve got a bona fide hit on our hands. “Party Girl” hits the top 20, and really the sooner this is gone the better, we don’t need this to be a hit. “Don’t Rush” picks up a spot, it recently got a DaBaby remix which should affect its position next week. “Boss ” is close to the 1000 points mark and picked up a few spots, but I believe it’s just hit ACR and so should plummet next week. “Chicago Freestyle” has risen, it will be interesting to see just how successful this could be, and I can’t lie, “Go Crazy” has grown on me considerably so I can’t complain about it picking up a few spots… “Whats Poppin” just hit ACR and will probably start to fall next week (if I understand it correctly), it’s a shame it never really took off, not even hitting the top 40. “Fake Friends” picks up considerably off the debut, I expect this to be a hit. “Play Date” rises, but for some reason it’ ACR already? Listen, I’m not gonna complain because the song’s terrible. There’s a few predictable returns but could someone tell me why “Baby Shark” and “Girls Need Love” are back? “Girls Need Love” hasn’t even charted in 2020!
Taking a look at some notable losses and drop-outs, “Say So” plummets due to ACR; it’s had a respectable run. “Sour Candy” drops off the debut, but more sadly, the amazing song “Alice” drops out completely. “Be Kind” loses a spot, it actually grew on me a lot and it’s a shame it only peaked at #40. “Tell Me U Luv Me” takes a considerable drop off the debut, let’s get this out the charts sooner rather than later. “TKN” drops off the debut, it grew on me considerably but let’s be honest, it doesn’t have staying power. “Summer Feelings” also plunges off the debut, I don’t really want this to be a hit so I’m not complaining. The most notable dropout was “What A Man Gotta Do” from #55, it had a respectable run and it wasn’t particularly good so I’m not exactly upset.
As an aside, the following songs hit 1000 inverted points this week: “Don’t Rush”, “Boyfriend”, “Savage”, and “This City”. Next week “Break My Heart” and “Toosie Slide” should join them.
Moving onto our sole new entry, at #93, “Deep End Freestyle” by Sleepy Hallow and Fousheé. I’m not sure why this is getting popular but it’s been picking up traction and has already charted in Canada. There’s elements of this I really like, but I have to start with the elephant in the room which is how jarring this rapper’s voice sounds against this sample, it really hurts the song. Apart from that though, the minimalist production is actually really tough, and apart from the sample it really compliments Sleepy Hallow’s style well. He actually as a surprising amount of grit and menace over this beat, so I would be happy to see him stick around. The eerie synth and rumbling bass are good, it’s just the sample and the way it interacts with Sleepy Hallow’s voice that ruins this, it makes it really hard to focus on his bars and just sounds ugly to listen to. All considered, a decent 5/10, and by default it gets both the best and worst of the week.
I might pare these reviews back a bit because in weeks with 12 or 13 debuts it really takes a lot of time and they tend to get removed for spam anyway because I use too many paragraph breaks I guess? So I might just try and stick to shorter track reviews. If the worst comes to the worst I’ll scrap the discussion of songs already in the charts and the word reviews but I’ll still rank every song out of 10, so I’ll try and continue to be a presence here. Anyway, thanks for tuning in. Stay safe if you’re participating in the protests, what you’re doing is important, and either way, have a good day.

So, does anyone remember this song debuting in the Top 10 back in March 2013?

While I'm so happy that it charted higher here than in any country, I personally think it should've spent several weeks at #1.

Seriously, Bridgit Mendler brings such a bright charisma with her vocals, the production fits her voice perfectly, the lyrics are adventurous in such a charming way & the video is so much fun. Yeah, nothing to criticise about this one, an easy 10/10! :D

To be honest, I really don't like "Rockstar" being No.1 still (my least favourite song) and hopefully next week "Rain On Me" will reclaim No.1. Even if there is no competition on this weeks No.1, it will probably have a chance to reclaim the No.1 spot. What do you think?

        Fun facts:

        - Rockstar's sales decreases for the first time in its career, off by 10% selling 57.6K.
        - This is the third week running that the Top 3 singles all have titles starting with the same letter.
        - Every song in the top 17 has declined in sales. Party Girl by StaySolidRocky is the only song that increased its sales and reached a new peak as a result.
        - Only 571 sales separate the #1 and #2 albums.

My two favourite artists of all-time are Billie Eilish (a genuine sweetheart) and EMINEM (my childhood). Why does a collaboration between the two of them sound really good? I hope my dream does come true! I am madly in love with Billie (if I wrote Perfect or Just The Way You Are, they'd be about her) and I love EMINEM's lyricism.

        Let's hope they're up for it! :D

Another unpopular opinion. If there's anyone who likes this song I'm about to go on about, please note I am respectful to your opinions.

Together by Sia is a TERRIBLE song imo. The annoying chants, her grating voice, the production which would sound decent in a kids show, I don't see it getting anywhere near the Top 40. Really light 2/10. I'll stick with Chandelier, which was a 10/10! :(

Yep, sadly South America is being hit hard to Covid 19 these weeks actually, especially Brazil. In Argentina we are still controlled due to a never-ending lockdown since March the 16, but it's the only way to stay safe. Thanks for asking and the concern!

I'm glad you're loving those throwbacks, as 2012-2013 was a really successful period for EDM, which is actually one of my all-time favourite genres!

Same... maybe it deserves to go on ACR again if all these good songs can? One thing I've noticed about songs that go on ACR... they're all songs that people will remember in years to come.
I think 'death bed' will be on ACR next week. Lets hope the EDM songs 'Flowers', 'Secrets', 'Breaking Me', 'ily' and 'Don't Need Love' (and possibly one day 'Fake Friends') can avoid ACR for a bit. Great to see 'Pour The Milk' get a new peak at No 45. I hope it goes Top 40... it's one of my favourite songs right now. :)

The thing is with ACR, it'll only knock the old songs down the chart, but not out of the Top 100 altogether. This is why 'Mr Brightside' is still here after all this time! I personally prefer Billboard recurrent rules for the Hot 100 chart, where basicaly ongs are removed entirely after a certain number of months in the chart & only re-enter if they get a really big resurgence in performance.

I'm hoping 'Fake Friends' & 'Pour The Milk' will be the next EDM hits to make the Top 40, but I'd definitely like another dance song to join 'Breaking Me' in the Top 10 next week, with 'Secrets' looking the most promising at the moment! :)

I think 'Flowers' will drop again next week, if any deserve to go to the top 10 it's that. I hope 'Breaking Me' goes all the way, but I'll be happy if it peaks at No2 , the same as the BigTop40. Another hit I want to go to No 1 is 'Rover'. It would be great if 'PTMilk' could get to the top 10, but I think it would go on ACR before then :(

Hey, I'm not ruling a #1 for 'Breaking Me' on the Big Top 40 yet, especially when their chart includes airplay & doesn't have ACR. :)

I thought 'Rover' might've had a chance, but the two songs above it are very strong right now!

Sadly, for as awesome as it would be, I don't see 'Fake Friends' going Top 10, but Top 40 might happen for it for a few weeks.

Same. I hope Joel Corry is in the chart next week too, but if he's not, it's not the end of the world. Another song I hope goes top 10 is 'ily' which is my favourite song right now. It's a summery hit, and it's summer, and it's quickly climbed the top 100, but there are some strong hits in the top 40 that won't leave (Dance Monkey and Blinding Lights). A song that I hope goes on ACR soon is 'Toosie Slide'. I used to like it, but it's a bit 'meh' now.

I actually like the song, it made my lists, but as there isn’t any besides that, I’ll review five songs I heard on Forza Horizon 4 that you need to check out if you haven’t. I’m also gonna post the YouTube link so you guys can hear! These are very underrated songs, and I’m glad I play the game – not only is it an amazing racing game, but whoever compiled the soundtrack has awesome taste. Let’s hop into the review! :)

The first one is “Clap Your Hands” by Le Youth featuring Ava Max and I adored it from first listen and still do to this day! Le Youth’s groovy production is obviously a highlight of the song, with the crisp dance beat and the cool keyboard. This is also helped by Ava Max delivering her best vocal performance to date, with her reaching a mind-blowing note before the drop! Then there’s the lyrics which are very feel-good and are about music helping you through rough patches. To be fair, there’s a lot of Avatars on here, so I’m genuinely surprised these ones haven’t heard it, because it’s in a high league of awesome. It will get from me, a 10/10!

Secondly, we have Someday by Lliam & Latroit, a tropical house song. I wasn’t expecting any of yous to know this, but if you’re a fan of Jonas Blue, Kygo etc, then you should really enjoy this! The production is very summery with the vibrant bass, fun keys and a very tropical drop. The vocals fit this sort of track perfectly. Moving onto the lyrics, which as you can tell, make the song another feel-good tune, as the person singing asks why someone is waiting for another day, when good things have already come. I don’t know about you guys, but I feel this is perfect for summer and it’s gotten a lot of streams from me. Light 9/10!

Thirdly, we have the song at the top of Piran’s chart as of writing, Shooting Star by Anna Yvette, which revolves around a case where synth-y songs are really good in my opinion! I mean, I despise Blinding Lights, this is much less annoying to me. It’s pretty annoying that Anna herself only had around 8.2k fans at the time of release, because her voice is incredible and fits this sort of track (it’s great that Microsoft discovered her). This is also carried by the twinkling 80s-style beat that sounds very cool and the guitar solo was a surprisingly good addition to the song! I’d say a solid 8/10 for this one.

Fourth pick is A Moment Apart by ODESZA, which plays in the title screen and… OHHH!!! This is just a breath of fresh air to this soundtrack! There’s no lyrics and about 75% of the time, I don’t hear any vocals. But how is an instrumental this good? I’ll analyse it: the violins that abruptly start the song are better than they should be, then we reach a climax, which abruptly stops, then suddenly piano comes in which just gives me goosebumps, then another climax slowly builds up, which blows me away, and the violins come back, only more carefully played and boom – you’ve reached one of my favourite instrumentals of all-time and needless to say, it’s beautiful… 10/10!

Finally, there’s Never Say Die by CHVRCHES, which I recently got into. It took some time to grow on me, but as I was never really that into CHVRCHES, I need to get more into their music if this is what I’m promised. Obviously, I know Lauren’s voice and I know how powerful it is. This is also helped by a fuzzy beat which works for once, and when it builds into a drop, it just sounds beautiful! Then we have lyrics about bailing in a relationship, which actually sound nice. My only nitpick is that I don’t know how to feel about the fuzz before the closing synths and drums, but that doesn’t change the fact it’s awesome. I’m gonna give this a very strong 8/10!

Amazing reviews mate, although with it being #1 on my current chart, I obviously wish 'Shooting Star' scored a bit higher, haha.

I love your new chart too, which I commented on last night! :)

        WEEKLY CHART REVIEW (12/06/2020 - 18/06/2020)

I’ll be honest, I very nearly didn’t bother with doing one of these this week.

Sure, I completely understand the serious lack of debuts in the wake of the #BlackLivesMatter campaign, but you’d think there would be some movement of songs that were gaining momentum lower down & could’ve potentially re-entered the Top 40… but no, instead we got only one new arrival right at the very foot of the region. Oh, also my Disqus notifications are currently broken, so that only adds to how little I have to say about the next chart!

Anyway, despite all the hate this got out of nowhere by the non-regulars on Sunday's single chart update article, I’m not surprised nor disappointed in the slightest to see ‘Rockstar’ retain the top spot! It’s holding up well enough across all components (especially streaming) to become vulnerable at the moment, although I also think the lack of any real competition is also helping it a lot.

That being said, while I’m not frustrated the #1 (even if I’d argue that ‘Rain On Me’ deserved many more weeks at the summit than just the one), I am frustrated that so many EDM songs are building up in the 11-20 range, yet none of them can seem to track the Top 10! Yeah, you’ve got dance anthems like ‘Flowers’, ‘Don’t Need Love’ & ‘Secrets’ all getting really close to making it, but I’ve seen so many club bangers get stuck around this part of the chart before ACR unfairly strikes them. Heck, even if just one of them broke through, I’d still be happy with that!

Oh well, at least we still have ‘Breaking Me’ bringing the genre some success for the time being, even though it’s a shame that not many other chartwatchers here like it.

Anyway, the only “new” entry that’s already been out for a few weeks anyway is ‘Go Crazy’ by Chris Brown & Young Thug! I’ll admit that I was slightly ambivalent going into this, as the former artist generally has songs that I either love or hate, while I’ve never been able to see the appeal of the latter at all sadly. That being said, maybe I should’ve gone in with slightly higher expectations, because I think this song avoids some of them! Now, the obvious issue is the content, where Chris Brown doesn’t sound all that convincing to win over this woman, especially when you talk about all the other women on your phone in the third verse, but at least he’s not Young Thug who’s bragging makes way less sense & especially the line “We can - ’til you’re tired.” Anyway, if you can ignore all that, you might actually find this decent! For me, I actually think Chris Brown & Young Thug have a fair bit of chemistry here, the melody & sample work for this kind of vibe, even the vocals are mostly on point, particularly on the hook. Yeah, this song as a whole is definitely flawed, but I have to be honest, I don’t think this is anywhere near as bad as most critics are making it out to be! I’m thinking a light 6/10 for this.

We also got two re-entries & while I’m not really sure why ‘Chicago Freestyle’ returned, it would appear that ‘Stupid Love’ is back off ACR thanks to the boost it got from Lady Gaga’s album last week, although I’m not sure either of them are going to last much longer here!

As for our climbers… okay, I’m kind of amused that ‘Who’s That What’s That’ actually went up a few places, but I genuinely couldn’t care less about ‘Party Girl’ also taking a notable ascent along with it! Sorry if you’re a fan, but I just find it so boring.

Beyond that, that’s it really, I don’t have anything more to add to this discussion in terms of the chart itself. I’m not sure what’s coming next week either, but I hope it’s more interesting than this week!

Oh well, I guess I’ll post a few lists & an Emoji Challenge here to make up for it.

Have a good weekend everybody & above all, stay safe! :)

I'm kind of mixed on Chris Brown as a whole! I like some of his R'n'B & dance music, but I've never been a huge fan of his personality, especially after what he did to Rihanna.

I hope so too! She's in the Top 10 on iTunes which is promising, but I want to see some stability over the weekend before I get my hopes up.

Good review as always, might do one later, although there really isn't much of a point.

As for Go Crazy, its a 6 from me, I really like Young Thug on it, but Chris Brown is really boring.
