Convert raw marks to UMS

Contact the team >

This converter is designed for unitised qualifications such as Cambridge Advanced Nationals, Cambridge Nationals and the Level 3 Certificate in Sustainability. GCSE, AS and A Levels do not use UMS so are not included.

Use our raw mark to UMS converter to convert raw marks to UMS marks for any unit from the available series. You can:

  • Input one or more scores directly
  • See a table of UMS for all possible raw marks together with accompanying grades
  • Import a CSV containing raw marks for conversion and export a CSV containing the results.

For more information about raw marks, UMS and how grades are calculated, please seeour guide to calculating your grade.

This converter will be available for Cambridge Advanced Nationals and the Level 3 Certificate in Sustainability from the January 2026 series onwards.

Converting UMS marks to raw marks

NB it is not possible to directly convert a UMS mark back to a raw mark as sometimes there are multiple raw marks for each UMS mark. You can, however, use the 'Show all scores' tab, to see what raw marks correspond to a UMS mark.

Choose a CSV file to upload and convert. You will be able to download the results.

Formatting instructions

The CSV file should consist of two columns: 'Candidate' and 'Raw score'. The 'Candidate' column should include a candidate identifier such as a name or student id, and the 'Raw score' column should contain the candidate's raw score for this unit. See thissample file for an example.

NB: If you upload a CSV file, please note you are not uploading data to OCR's servers or transferring any data across the internet. All processing of the CSV file is carried out in your browser.
