The low to the east of the South Island continues to weaken today and tomorrow, while a second low passes near the Chatham Islands tomorrow, bringing a period or strong winds and rain. A weak front moves up the South Island and lower North Island on Thursday, clearing the country on Friday, with a showery southwest flow covering the country. A ridge of high pressure moves over the North Island on Saturday, while another front moves over the lower South Island.
