Hawke Bay

Situation:

The low to the east of the South Island continues to weaken, while a second low passes near the Chatham Islands today, bringing a period or strong winds and rain. A weak front moves up the South Island and lower North Island on tomorrow. The front clears the country on Friday, with a showery southwest flow covering the country. A ridge of high pressure moves over the North Island on Saturday, while another front moves over the lower South Island. This front moves east of the country on Sunday and the ridge remains.

Today: Variable 5 knots. Southerly 10 knots developing this morning, easing to variable 5 knots this afternoon. Southwest 15 knots developing east of Wairoa this evening. Sea slight. Mainly fine. Chance of an afternoon and evening shower. Southeast swell 1 metre.

For Hawke Bay:

Thursday: Variable 5 knots but southwest 15 knots east of Wairoa. Becoming northeast 10 knots everywhere in the morning. Becoming northwest 15 knots in the evening. Fine. Southeast swell 1 metre dying out.

Friday: Westerly 20 knots. Fine. Southerly swell 1 metre developing.

Saturday: Southwest 20 knots, easing to 10 knots early. Changing easterly 15 knots later. Fine. Southerly swell 1 metre.

Thursday: Westerly 25 knots, easing to northwest 15 knots south of East Cape in the morning. Rough sea easing. Moderate easterly swell, but moderate northwest swell north of East Cape.

Friday: Becoming westerly 35 knots but 25 knots north of East Cape early. Becoming westerly 25 knots everywhere in the morning. Sea becoming very rough for a time. Moderate southeast swell, but moderate northwest swell north of East Cape.

Saturday: Southwest 20 knots, becoming westerly 15 knots but northerly 20 knots south of East Cape later. South of East Cape: Moderate southeast swell easing. North of East Cape: Moderate northwest swell dying out.
