Note: Some countries may have started administering additional doses but have not reported data yet. Table shows countries with at least 100,000 people. Use the search feature to find data for countries with smaller populations. Numbers marked with an asterisk * were last reported more than two weeks ago.·Source: Vaccinations data from local governments via Our World in Data.

The data is compiled from government sources by theOur World in Data project at the University of Oxford. A vaccinated person refers to someone who has received at least one dose of a vaccine, and afully vaccinated person has received either a single-dose vaccine or both doses of a two-dose vaccine, such as the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna shots.

How many have been vaccinated, and who’s eligible

Many countries started to administer additional doses toward the end of 2021 after research found thatvaccine effectiveness wanes over time. More than 2.72 billion additional doses have been administered worldwide. Additional doses include booster doses given to fully vaccinated individuals when the protection from the original shots has begun to decline, as well as extra shots given to people, such as the immunocompromised, who did not have a strong immune response from their initial doses.

Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna, the manufacturers of two of the most widely used Covid-19 vaccinations, have developed updated vaccines that more effectively protect against the newer Omicron variant. These are currently being administered in many countries, including the United States and Britain.

Doses administered per day

No countries selected.
Note: Data is a 7-day rolling average. Some countries only report vaccination data intermittently, which can lead to anomalies in their average. Countries marked with an asterisk * have not reported data in the last two weeks.

Vaccination rates around the world have stagnated in recent months, withpublic demand dropping even as vaccine supply has become more abundant.

Early leads in vaccination rates have become entrenched. Africa has the lowest vaccination rate of any continent, with just 37.2 percent of the population receiving at least one dose of a vaccine, compared to 82.3 percent in Latin America.

Note: Vaccination data is based on government reports and is provided by theOur World in Data project at the University of Oxford. Data is based on reports at the time of publication. At times, officials revise reports or offer incomplete information. Data for some countries may differ from Our World in Data as The New York Times verifies this information. Visitthis page for more information about data for the United States, which includes doses provided to Palau, Micronesia and the Marshall Islands. World totals include Gibraltar and the Isle of Man, but counts for these places are not included in the data for the United Kingdom. Data for Russia was collected bygogov.ru from a variety of regional sources, including government websites and media reports. Russia is reporting data for Crimea, a peninsula itannexed in 2014 in a move that led to international sanctions. Population data and income classifications are from the World Bank.
