Kingsley Coman’s 11-year league-winning run ends with Bayer Leverkusen’s title

Bayer Leverkusen’sBundesliga title triumph has ended one of the most impressive records in football.

Bayern Munich forward Kingsley Coman had, before this campaign, had an 11-season career as a professional footballer and set an incredible all-time record in Europe’s top five leagues.

Coman, 27, had played in a league-winning side in each of his 11 seasons as a professional footballer and even featured for two title-winners in the 2015-16 campaign, meaning he had secured a record 12 titles in 11 seasons.

The Frenchman began his career at Paris Saint-Germain and featured in Ligue 1 for the Parisians during their title-winning seasons in 2012-13 and 2013-14.

He joinedJuventus in the summer of 2014, helping them winSerie A in his debut season and playing one league game in 2015-16 before he moved to Bayern, for whom he scored four league goals in their title success in Germany the same season.

Coman was a key player for Bayern as they won the Bundesliga title in each of his first eight seasons with the club, before Leverkusen broke their hegemony this campaign.

Bayern had won 11 successive Bundesliga titles, a run which began in 2012-13, with club legends Manuel Neuer andThomas Muller playing a key role in each of the titles.

Muller has won 12 league titles with Bayern, although his career there has spanned four more seasons than Coman, who has won a total of 25 trophies throughout his career. Neuer has 11 Bundesliga titles to his name, having joined Bayern from Schalke in the summer of 2011.

Coman, meanwhile, scored the only goal of the 2020 Champions League final as Bayern edged past his former clubPSG in the decider.
