ByPaul Taylor

Nottingham Forest have signedChris Wood permanently, after clauses in his loan move fromNewcastle United were activated.

The New Zealand international striker made his third appearance as Steve Cooper’s side were beaten 2-0 atFulham last weekend – which was enough to ensure Forest had to pay £15million to theirPremier League rivals for the 31-year-old.

Wood has not yet scored for his new club, but has been a regular in the side under Cooper, following his switch from the north-east.

Wood played a crucial part in Newcastle’s relegation battle last season when he signed for the club fromBurnley for £25million in January.

But he saw his minutes diminish this season. In total he has scored 5 goals for Newcastle in 39 appearances.

Wood scored 59 goals for previous club Burnley and Newcastle combined, within 189 top division appearances.

The former West Brom,Leicester andLeeds player also has 70 caps for New Zealand, scoring 33 goals.
