‘Silver Linings Playbook’ musical is being made for Broadway

An Oscar-winning film is set to get the Broadway treatment.
A stage musical adaptation of “Silver Linings Playbook” is in the works after producer James D. Stern obtained the rights to the project, he toldThe Hollywood Reporter.
The film centers on an unlikely bond between two people, portrayed by Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, who come together for a dance competition while dealing with their own personal hardships.

Lawrence won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in the movie, which came out in 2012.
“Silver Linings Playbook” earned eight Oscar nominations overall, with Best Picture among them.
Directed by David O. Russell, the film is based on the 2008 novel, “The Silver Linings Playbook,” by Matthew Quick. The movie also stars Robert De Niro.

Broadway shows recently started returning to the Great White Way after shutting their doors for more than a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Among those to reopen last month were “Hamilton,” “Wicked” and “The Lion King.”
Stern was a producer on the Broadway production of “Hairspray” that won the Tony Award for best musical in 2003.
