Odd Future’s Tyler, The Creator: ‘My lyrics aren’t offensive’ – video

Rapper says he like to 'piss off old white people'

ByNME

Odd Future‘sTyler, The Creator has dismissed claims that his lyrics are offensive.

The rap collective – and Tyler in particular – have courted controversy in the past with their explicit rhymes, with the most high-profile example being the rapper’s spat with Canadian duo Tegan and Sarah, who took him to task for his apparently homophobic lyrics. He responded to their criticism by suggesting that the openly gay duo “need some hard dick”.

In an interview withBBC Newsnight’s Stephen Smith, however, he insisted:

My lyrics aren’t offensive. Some people find everything offensive.

When asked what he was trying to say in his lyrics, meanwhile, he replied: “Nothing. Shit to piss old white people off like you.” You can watch the full interview by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking below.

Last month (March 31), it was reported thatTyler, The Creator could work with ‘Video Games’ singer Lana Del Rey in the future after the pair expressed an interest in working with each other via Twitter. Odd Future released their new album, ‘OF Tape Vol 2’, on March 19.
