Jamelia swept the board at last night’s (September 30) MOBO awards along with US hip-hop starKanye West.
Both were the winners of three nominated categories at the ceremony in the Royal Albert Hall in London.
However, the winner’s joy was partially overshadowed by protests outside the venue following the exclusion of Elephant Man and Vybz Kartel from the celebrations in protest over their homophobic lyrics.
Jamelia shared the UK Act Of The Year award withDizzee Rascal.
Jamelia’s autobiographical track ‘Thank You’ won Best Single. She was also awarded best video for the Chris Martin penned track ‘See It In A Boy’s Eyes’.
Speaking on her accolade for best single, she commented: “This is probably the most important and significant one for me to win because this is a single that really means a lot to me.”
Kanye West, not present at the ceremony, was the winner of Best Hip-Hop Artist, Best Producer and Best Album for ‘College Dropout’.

30 protesters from the Black Music Council gathered outside the awards with banners in support of the banned artists, excluded due to their refusal to apologise for their lyrics.
Booing the celebrities arriving at the awards, they held banners which read ‘Defend Reggae Music’ and ‘Enraged by (gay rights group) OutRage!’.
OutRage! campaigner Peter Tatchell, not at the ceremony, said he was “appalled” at the actions of the Black Music Council, reports the BBC.
“OutRage! defends the right of artists to criticise homosexuality, but free speech does not include the right to commit the criminal offence of incitement to murder,” he said.
“The MOBO’s are to be congratulated for dropping Elephant Man and Vybz Kartel.”
