Leftfield,Coldplay,Mansun,IDLEWILD,JJ72,JON CARTER are among the acts set to appear at the ninth annualRADIO 1 SOUND CITY event, hosted this year byCARDIFF.
The event, running from October 20-26, follows the form of previousSound Cityweeks, by taking place mainly in two venues –Cardiff University andCardiff Clwb Ifor Bach – with specialist dance shows being broadcast live from various clubs within the city.
At theUniversity, hostSteve Lamacq will present hisEvening Session show from October 23, withMansun kicking things off, supported bySoulwax andKing Adora. The next night (24) seesIdlewild play withCrashland, whileColdplay, joined byJJ72 andZabrinski, play on Wednesday 25.Leftfield round the week off in the venue on Thursday 26, with support from Utah Saints.
Meanwhile, veteran broadcasterJohn Peel plays host at theClwb Ifor Bach venue.
Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci, supported byMelys, open things up on October 24.Topper,Derrero andMurry the Hump follow on 25 whileAnd You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead… headline on Thursday 26, supported byTystion andReviver Gene.
During the preceding weekend, it’s the turn of the DJs to openSound City.Judge Jules broadcasts his show on Friday October 20 live from theZeus Nightclub, followed later the same evening byFabio & Grooverider broadcasting from theEmporium.
Pete Tong, alongsideSeb Fontaine andTimo Mass, broadcasts hisEssential Mix fromCardiff Ice Rink on October 21, whileJon Carter andRae & Christian playClwb Ifor Bach on the same night for a show to be broadcast the following Monday (October 23).MTV favouriteTrevor Nelson takes his‘Rhythm Nation’ to theThe Emporium on October 22.
