REASON HIS BABY COME IN A IS CAN'T. FIND ONE BIG ENOUGH CINCINNATI (AP) An attorney for boxer Aaron Pryor said Wednesday the undefeated junior welterweight champion has sent a letter to the World Boxing Association announcing his retirement. Attorney Robert Buchner said Pryor, undefeated in 34 professional bouts knockouts, is tired of making mandatory title defenses. However, Buchner said, Pryor would fight again if an attractive match is offered. "I think that it's correct to say he would certainly reconsider his decision to retire if there's someone on the scene he thought had the same marketability and fighting ability he has," Buchner said.
Pryor, 28, of Cincinnati, recorded his 34th victory by knocking out Alexis Arguello in a rematch Sept. 9 in Las Vegas. Afterward, Pryor indicated he was considering retiring. Pryor faced a mandatory title defense against Johnny Bumphus, the WBA's No. 1-ranked contender.
He would lose his title by refusing to fight Bumphus. Pryor said four weeks ago he turned down a 000 offer to fight Bumphus because he felt he had nothing to prove by defending his title again. Instead, he said, he'd like to fight lightweight champion Ray "Boom-Boom" Mancini. Buechner said he and Pryor sent a letter to the WBA's attorney last week notifying the association of Pryor's retirement. LADIES NIGHT EVERY THURSDAY Women Admitted FREE Post Time 7:30 P.M.
