MOVIE CALL SHEET ttSiWU(Ztmt9 NATIONAL GENERAL CORPORATION Columbia Buys 'Good, Evil' WEST COAST iTHE AT REG mi 15-Hour Battle of Rock Roll Bands Scheduled "Countdown," a 15-hour competition for amateur and semi-professional high school rock n' roll groups, will be held Saturday and Sunday at Ascot Park in Gardena. Some 150 groups will compete, say the British promoters, Charles and Mark Royal. The competition was originally announced for the Moulin RoUge. Twenty of the groups will be picked, on the basis audience applause, ior a semi-final heat to be held later. The Royals, who have staged a similar battle of the beats in England, hope to hold Countdowns in other U.S.

Gann's novel of San Francisco, "Of Good and Evil," as a lumbia Pictures. Cohn recently produced the "Intern" pictures for the studio. Most of the drama will be photographed in San Francisco. Everett Freeman, currently co-producing with Martin Melcher "The Glass Bottom Boat" at MGM, has announced the completion of an original screenplay, "The Perils of Paula," which will be filmed next year. Freeman expects to do the modern comedy with two male and two female stars under hi3 independent Reame Productions banner.

Shirley MacLaine will star in "Bloomer Girl," the Broadway hit musical of the 1940s which 20th Century-Fox will bring to the screen as one of its most important productions for 1966. Nat Goldstone will produce and George Cukor will direct. Goldstone produced the show on Broadway and has assigned Herbert Baker to write the screenplay around the musical score by Harold Ar-len and E. Y. Harburg.

Katharine Ross has been signed by MGM to co-star with Debbie Reynolds, Ricardo Montalban 'and Leslie Uggams in Singing Nun."
