Mrs. Roosevelt Named Most Admired Woman By GEORGE ( GALLUP Director, American Institute Public Opinion PRINCETON, N. J. Eleanor Roosevelt and Sister Kenny, the world-famous Autralian expert on the treatment of polio, are the two women most admired by the American public, judging by a survey just completed by the American Institute of Public Opinion. Clare Booth author and fan mous congresswoman, is third, followed by Helen Keller, author and Martinson Sends Police Chief of Panama Some Data Police Chief Thomas J. Martinson of Hammond got a surprise yesterday. received a fan letter from the police chief of Panama City, Panama Canal Zone. The Panamanian, G. W. Campbell, of the Panama secret police, wrote Martinson that he had read of Hammond's police training proin an FBI bulletin dated 1947. gram. This year's top ten, as reported recently, were in order: President Truman, General Eisenhower, Winston Churchill, General Douglas| MacArthur, Herbert Hoover, Pope Pius XII, Senator Robert A. Taft. Bernard Baruch, Alben W. Barkley and Governor Thomas E. Dewey. Many Women Named Scores of other women were named by voters in today's survey. Those who received prominent mention include: POLITICS Mrs. Harry Truman, Senator Margaret Chase Smith, Mrs. Thomas E. Dewey, Mrs. Alben W. Barkley, Mrs. Pandit Nehru of India, Mrs. Robert A. Taft and many others. ROYALTY Queen Elizabeth, Queen Wilhelmina, Duchess of Windsor. AUTHORS Bess Streeter Aldrich, Pearl Buck, Margaret Landon, Eve Curie, Ernestine Gilbreth Carey. NEWSPAPERWOMEN - Dorothy Thompson, Agnes Meyer. RADIO Kate Smith, Mary Margaret McBride, Crocker. MUSIC - Marian Anderson, Rise Stevens. MOVIES OR RE STAGE Cornelia Otis Skinner, Ethel Barrymore, Mary Martin, Jeanette MacDonald and many others.
