Annual Meeting of the Kentucky Monument Asscciation. The Officers Resiga, and a New Constitution Is To Be Adopted -Encouraging Reports The Confederate Monument Association of Kentucky Women held its annual meeting yesterday afternoon, at the State Guard Armory, with a large attendance. Mrs. Susan Preston Hepburn, President, was present for the first time her recent illness, and was warmly greeted. Mincer After the calling of the roll by the Secretary, Miss Annie Wilson, Mrs. llepburn explained that it was proposed reorganize the association, elect new officers, and adopt 8 new constitution and hy-laws. Previous to this the reports of officers would be in order. The meeting should have been held in June, but it was thought best to postpone it on account of many active members being out of the city. The Secretary's report was read, giving details of all the money collected, when, and by whom, etc. The report shows collections under the system of districting and canvassing the city last spring, 52,245.05. Received from entertainments, $350.50; received from other $683: total, $3,380.33. points; S100.30: paid subscriptions, be added $530 unpaid subscriptions, making the grand total $3,930.35. The Treasurer's report Mrs. John F. Henry: showed that nearly all of this money bad been placed in the hands of the Louisville Safety Vault and Trust Company at interest. Upon recommendation of the Treas urer, the association decided to place all future money in the same institution. A draft of a new constitution and bylaws was read by the Secretary and discussed by sections as the leading progressed, but no action was taken, it being considered desirable that the matter should lie over one month, or until Wednesdas. October 23. The Secretary was instructed to notify ali members of the Association of that meeting and its objects. In view of the proposed reorganiza. tion. it was decided that, when this was effected, the A-scention be chartered. The resignations of Mr. Hepburn, President: Mrs. E. Polk Johnson. Secre 1ary : Mrs. John F. Hen v. Treasurer. and Miss Annie Wilson. A -sisiant Secre. tary, were read, to take effect when the reorganization is completed and new officers elected. The idea in this proceeding was to give the new members, of whom | there are many, a chance to assume some of the laborieus duties which have heretofore been borne by the otticers named for several years. A ri-ing vote of thanks was tendered the Assistant Secretary for her etliciency. The following extracts from the Secretary's report gives interesting information as to the work being done outside of the city: The Central Association now has a mombership of 206, of whom 173 reside this city. It has been our constant endeavor to arouse an interest in other parts of the State. Eight ladies, in as many different towns, have responded favorably to our overtures, and. we believe, have been making some effort in behalf of the monument. Mrs. Louisa Catlett, of Eddyville, Ky., sent which she bad collected, and hoped to send more. Mrs. Josephine Walker. of this city. during & brief summer visit to Lawrenceburg, collected 836 from friends of the cause at that place. Miss Mitchell. of Catlettsburg. and Miss Helm. of Newport, have some hopes of organizing branch associations. Through the influence of Mrs. Bush Castleman and her cousin. Miss Ingrain, a branch association has been organized in Henderson, with officers as follows: Mrs. Dr. Dixon. Local Vice President. Mi-s Fannie Kimmel. Secretary. Miss Marie Ingram, Treasurer. The members are: Mrs. M. M Kimmel. Miss Marie Ingram, Miss Adrienne Blackwell, Miss Mary Mallory. Miss Fannie Blackwell, Miss Mary Sassen, Miss Laura Cromwell, M as Ois Black well, Miss Inez Dign Miss Maggie Dixon, Miss Hattie J. Powell, Miss Sara T. Young, Mr:. A. G. Cravens, J. A.
