Channel 6 Authorized For Miami

Channel 6 Authorized For Miami WASHINGTON - (AP) - The Federal Communications Commission Wednesday announced a tentative: decision to authorize South Florida Amusement Co. to build and operate a new television station on Channel 6 at Perrine, Fla., south of Miami. The commission said it is instructing its staff to draw up an order awarding the nel to South Florida Amusement Co. and denying competing applications of Publix Television Corp. and Coral Television Corp. for new stations in the same area. A hearing examiner recommended these actions last September. All of the companies involved are composed of local business and professional people. South Florida is headed by Sherwin Grossman, president of Hallandale Drive-In Theater, Inc., Hallandale, Fla., and former president of station WBUF-TV, Buffalo, N.Y. Members of the Grossman family own all of South Florida's stock. Publix's president is Charles Danton, Miami attorney. Coral is headed by Leon McAskill, publisher of trade magazines in the Miami area. The hearing examiner recommended a grant to South Florida largely on the basis of what he called superior broadcasting experience. constitutionally students. college a education compulsory. an foreseeable to negotiations defense business, supplies, development.
