Candidate W. H. STEVENSON W. H. STEVENSON BEGINS CAMPAIGN FOR COUNTY POST Announces Candidacy on Republican Ticket For District Attorney Attorney William H. Stevenson, of the firm of Schubert and Stevenson, his candidacy for district on the republican announced, ticket late Saturday, Mr. Stevenson came to La Crosse with his parents in 1895. He attended the tenth ward school and gradfrom the La Crosse high school in 1910. Mr. Stevenson then took the course offered at the La Crosse State Normal school, graduating in 1912, and later became the first principal of the Union Free high school at Holmen. In 1919 Mr. Stevenson graduated from the college of law of the University of Wisconsin, and then became associated in the practice of law with the Higbee law office of La Crosse. When the Hon. L. H. Bancroft of Richland Center was appointed circuit judge of the fifth district of Wisconsin, Mr. Stevenson took over Mr. Bancroft's law office and practice, and later became associated with Mr. Bancroft under the name of Bancroft and Stevenson. In 1924 Mr. Stevenson was elected to the office of district attorney of Richland county. After the death of the late Paul W. Mahoney, Mr. Stevenson returned to La Crosse to become the partner of his former high school teacher, Attorney A. H. Schubert, and has been associated with Mr. Schubert under the firm name of Schubert and Stevenson since 1927. Concerning his candidacy for the nomination to the of district attorney, Mr. Stevenson said: *There have been so many representative payers and voters of La Crosse county who have asked me to offer my services to the public as a candidate for the office of district attorney, that I have been persuaded to make the run for this cffice. My entire campaign shall be based upon the service that I can people of this county if nominated® and elected. I shall be glad to give the people and the county the benefit of my thirteen years of experience actively engaged in trial work before the courts of this state and as district attorney of Richland county." a
