F.E. Withrow, Attorney, Dies Practiced Law Here For 59 Years FRANK E. WITHROW Frank E. Withrow, 230 N. 11th St., La Crosse attorney for 59 years, died at his home Saturday night after a long illness. He had maintained an active law practice in this city for 56 years, retiring in July, 1948. Withrow was born in Sac City, Ia., in 1873, the son of Capt. Thomas E. and Helen (Baxter) Withrow. He attended schools of Sac City and J. H. Truwin of that city. was Lansing and later studied late with graduated from Northwestern university in June, 1892. One of his professors was the internationally famous attorney Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis. Upon his graduation, Withrow came immediately to La Crosse and was associated in a law practice here with Judge E. C. Higbee. When Higbee was elected to the circuit judgeship, Withrow established his own office. The dean of La Crosse attorneys, Withrow estimated, at his retirement. that he had handled (than 2.000 matters during proud his career he justifiably that never had lost a major case in Circuit Court.
