They'll be joined in the winner's circle by Jeret Schroeder of Vineland, N.J., winner in the USAC/ SCCA Pro Racing U.S. Formula Ford 2000 category; Billy Boat of Phoenix, who claims the Skoal "Western States" Midget crown; Scott Hansen of Simi Valley, Calif., king of Skoal T9 Midgets; Michael Lang of Indianapolis, returning as Speedrome Midget champion; C.J. Mears of Bakersfield, Calif., taking the Russell Pro Triple Crown title, and Aaron Justus of Carlsbad, Calif., winner of the Russell Championship Series. As is customary, numerous surprise awards will be presented during the evening, along with honors for car entrant champions Team Green (Gold Crown), Niebel/ Boles (Silver Crown), Niebel Engines (Sprint Car) and Steve Lewis (Midgets). Altogether, almost $1 million is distributed, along with rings and plaques. ESPN's Gary Lee and USAC statistician/historian Donald Davidson will share emcee duties. As racing events go, this one's dressy, with black tie optional. The cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. The program starts at 8 p.m. Cost is $60 a person. For a special patrons party on Feb. 2, Trinity Episcopal Church will be transformed into Williamburg's historic Bruton Parish. Attendees will be entertained by Tom Gerber, harpsichordist, who will present a candlelight concert of 18th-century music. Afterward guests will proceed to "Ye Ole Dragon Tavern" for light English fare and drink. A silent auction, storytelling and tavern songs also are planned. Patron party tickets are $50 a person. Auto racing awards If you like auto racing, the Adam's Mark Hotel is the place to be on Feb. 9. Champions from all types of competition sanctioned by the United States Auto Club will be honored at its 40th National Awards Dinner. Jacques Villeneuve of Monte Carlo, winner of the 500-Mile Race and USAC's Gold Crown Driving Championship, will share the spotlight with the likes of Tony Stewart of Rushville, who is the first driver ever to claim three national driving titles at once. The 1 p.m. benefit for St. Richard's and the Greater Indianapolis Literacy League portrays Felicity and her friends in a short play, along with period music and light refreshments from Colonial Williamsburg recipes.
