The 2012 AAN guideline “Evidence-based guideline update: NSAIDS and othercomplementary treatments for episodic migraine prevention in adults” has beenretired by the AAN Board of Directors on September 16, 2015, due to serious safetyconcerns with a preventative treatment, butterbur, recommended by this guideline.The recommendations and conclusions in all retired guidelines are considered nolonger valid and no longer supported by the AAN.
