Jose Alvarado accounted for 26 points (8-of-13 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), three rebounds, four assists, five steals and eight three-pointers in Wednesday’s win over the 76ers.
The emotions of playing his first Knicks home game may have gotten the best of Alvarado in Tuesday’s loss to the Pacers. There were no such issues for the Brooklyn native on Wednesday, as he took over during the third and fourth quarters. Alvarado shot 8-of-13 from beyond the arc, dropping 26 points while showing why he’s nicknamed “Grand Theft Alvarado” with the five steals. And he recorded that stat line in just 19 minutes. With Miles McBride (core) possibly out until the postseason, Alvarado isn’t a bad pickup in deep leagues, even if nights like Wednesday won’t become the norm.
Karl-Anthony Towns
NYK
Center-Forward
#32
Karl-Anthony Towns amassed 21 points (8-of-13 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), 11 rebounds, five assists, one steal, one block and one three-pointer in Wednesday’s win over the 76ers.
While Towns finished Tuesday’s overtime loss to the Pacers with a double-double, he was far more assertive on Wednesday. The Knicks’ improved ball movement may have been a factor, but the 7-footer deserves credit for the approach he took on both ends of the floor. That set the tone in what would be a 138-89 win, an excellent way for the Knicks to go into the All-Star break. Next up for Towns is an appearance in Sunday’s All-Star Game, where he’ll represent Team World.
Mikal Bridges
NYK
Guard-Forward
#25
Mikal Bridges finished Wednesday’s win over the 76ers with 22 points (9-of-15 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), five rebounds, six assists, two steals and one three-pointer.
After scoring 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting in Tuesday’s loss to the Pacers, Bridges did the same on Wednesday. However, he doubled his assist and steal numbers in the 138-89 demolition of the 76ers. While Bridges’ fantasy value has slipped some recently, with him providing seventh-round value over the past two weeks, he remains ranked safely within the top-50 in season-long value. The Knicks play three games after the All-Star break, starting with the Pistons on February 19.
OG Anunoby
NYK
Forward-Guard
#8
OG Anunoby (toe) is out for Wednesday’s game against the 76ers.
Anunoby is set to miss his fourth game in a row with a toe injury. Landry Shamet has started the last two games with Anunoby out and had 17 points and four three-pointers in Tuesday’s OT loss to the Pacers. Shamet could be worth streaming if he starts again and Mohamed Diawara should see more minutes off the bench.
Mikal Bridges
NYK
Guard-Forward
#25
Mikal Bridges accumulated 22 points (9-of-15 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), six rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block and two three-pointers in Tuesday’s loss to the Pacers.
After scoring five points in the Knicks’ February 4 double-overtime win over the Nuggets, Bridges has gotten back on track offensively. He’s hit double figures in three straight, with Tuesday’s tally being the highest for him since dropping 23 in a February 3 win over the Wizards. With OG Anunoby (toe) out, there has been a little more room for Bridges to assert himself offensively, and that’s a positive for fantasy managers who have him on their rosters.
Josh Hart
NYK
Guard
#3
Josh Hart finished Tuesday’s loss to the Pacers with 15 points (5-of-8 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs), 11 rebounds, 11 assists, two steals, one block and two three-pointers.
Hart was on triple-double watch at halftime, as he was already responsible for eight rebounds and nine assists. He finished with the 17th of his Knicks career, moving into third place on the franchise’s all-time list. Over the past two weeks, Hart has provided top-50 per-game value in nine-cat formats according to Basketball Monster. The Knicks play once more before the All-Star break, Wednesday night in Philadelphia.
Karl-Anthony Towns
NYK
Center-Forward
#32
Karl-Anthony Towns tallied 22 points (8-of-17 FGs, 5-of-6 FTs), 14 rebounds, three assists and one three-pointer in Tuesday’s loss to the Pacers.
Limited to 11 points in Sunday’s win over the Celtics, Towns doubled that tally on Tuesday while recording his 36th double-double of the season. Unfortunately for the Knicks, he wasn’t around for the latter stages of overtime, having fouled out with 2:14 remaining in the extra session. Indiana scored the first nine points of overtime, pushing their road record on the season to 4-22. Wednesday’s game against the Knicks is far more important to Towns and the Knicks, who need a win to avoid losing the season series. And they’ll need KAT to stay on the floor, especially if Joel Embiid plays.
Jalen Brunson
NYK
Guard
#11
Jalen Brunson recorded 40 points (15-of-31 FGs, 6-of-8 FTs), five rebounds, eight assists, one steal and four three-pointers in Tuesday’s loss to the Pacers.
Brunson finished Tuesday with his second 40-point game in four outings and fourth of the season, but it wasn’t enough to avoid a disappointing overtime defeat. The Knicks point guard shot 4-of-14 from beyond the arc, putting a dent in his overall field-goal percentage. Brunson and the Knicks will look to go into the All-Star break on a high note when they visit the 76ers on Wednesday.
OG Anunoby
NYK
Forward-Guard
#8
OG Anunoby (toe) is out for Tuesday’s game against the Pacers.
Tuesday’s game will be the third that Anunoby has missed with a toe injury. Landry Shamet replaced him in the lineup for Sunday’s win over the Celtics and may retain that role. If so, Shamet would be worth streaming. Also, look for rookie Mohamed Diawara to pick up additional minutes off the bench.
Mitchell Robinson
NYK
Center-Forward
#23
Mitchell Robinson (ankle) has been ruled out against the Pacers on Tuesday.
This is the first leg of a back-to-back for New York, with the second game coming in Philadelphia on Wednesday. The 76ers have been a far more competitive team than Indiana this year, so they want to ensure Robinson is available for that game. Ariel Hukporti should fill out the reserve minutes behind Karl-Anthony Towns against the Pacers.
