Assessing the effect of social and environmental burdens on kidney disease
Social and environmental exposures are strong drivers of health inequity and adverse health outcomes. However, data from studies that examine the longitudinal effect of social and environmental exposure burdens on kidney disease outcomes are limited. The environmental justice index–social environmental ranking, although imperfect, provides an important tool to address this gap in knowledge.

Using genetics as a tool to understand female reproductive health better
Genome-wide association analyses of 42 female reproductive disorders identify 195 associations between genetic variants and reproductive health traits, including previously unidentified risk factors for ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids. We characterize the genetic architecture of studied traits and highlight the potential of a polygenic risk score to enhance risk prediction for intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy.

Optimal nutrition for all requires a synergistic approach between food environments and food systems
Despite growing recognition of how food environments shape our eating behaviour, existing policy interventions to change them remain insufficient. Approaches focused on the food supply itself, driven by grassroots social change rather than solely top-down policy, are particularly important to improve diet quality.
