Headies 2022: All the winners

The 2022Headies were held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, US, at the weekend, with ‘Essence’ hitmakers Wizkid and Tems emerging as the night’s biggest winners.

  • ‘Essence’ hitmakers Wizkid and Tems were the biggest winners at the 2022 Headies.

Founded by Hip Hop World Magazine in 2006, the awards platform recognises outstanding musicians and music professionals in the country’s entertainment industry. This year, the scheme was dedicated to honouring the best in Afrobeats, African music and culture.

Wizkid and Tems won five trophies apiece, three of which were driven by the chart-topping record. Wizkid also took home the Album of the Year Award for Made in Lagos (Deluxe Edition), while Tems picked up the Best Female Artist and Best R&B Album awards for If Orange Was a Place.

Fellow Afrobeats star Burna Boy took home three awards, while Fireboy DMLDavido and Patoranking managed victories in two categories each.
