National League Non-Tenders: 11/21/25

Every National League team has officially announced their non-tender decisions. It was a quiet evening in terms of subtractions, with only the Rangers parting with any marquee players. All players who were non-tendered are free agents without going on waivers. A few teams dropped pre-arbitration players from the back of the 40-man roster. It’s possible they preferred not to expose them to waivers and are hopeful of re-signing them to non-roster deals.
Here’s a full list of today’s activity in the NL, while the American League movesare available here. All projected salaries are courtesy of MLBTR contributor Matt Swartz.
- The Braves announced that right-handersAlek Manoah andCarson Ragsdale were not tendered contracts. Both had been acquired earlier in the offseason via waivers, and both are now free agents. Manoah was projected to earn $2.2MM. Ragsdale was not arb-eligible.
- The Brewers tendered contracts to their entire arbitration class,per Adam McCalvy of MLB.com.
- The Cardinals chose not to tender contracts to leftyJohn King, catcherYohel Pozo and rightySem Robberse, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatchreports.Jorge Alcala, who was designated for assignment earlier this week, was also non-tendered, John Denton of MLB.comadds. King and Alcala were both projected for a $2.1MM salary. The others were not arb-eligible.
- The Cubs non-tendered catcherReese McGuire,per ESPN’s Jesse Rogers. He hit .226/.245/.444 through 140 plate appearances in a backup catcher role and was arb-eligible for the final time. He’d been projected to earn $1.9MM. Right-handerEli Morgan, who was projected to earn $1.1MM, was also non-tendered,according to MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian.
- The D-backs non-tendered left-handerTommy Henry, who’d already been designated for assignment, and right-handerTaylor Rashi. Neither was eligible for arbitration. They tendered contracts to their entire arb class.
- The Dodgers did not tender a contract to closerEvan Phillips,reports Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. He was only under club control for one more season and projected for a $6.1MM salary but underwentTommy John surgery in June. Dodgers rightyNick Frasso, who was not arb-eligible and finished the season on the 60-day IL, was also non-tendered,per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic.
- The Giants non-tendered left-handerJoey Lucchesi,reports Jon Heyman of the New York Post. Lucchesi pitched to a solid 3.76 ERA with a below-average 18.8% strikeout rate and strong 7.3% walk rate in 38 1/3 innings and had been projected for a $2MM salary. San Francisco also non-tendered catcher Andrew Knizner, who was designated for assignment this afternoon when the Giants acquired Joey Wiemer from Miami.
- The Marlins tendered contracts to all of their eligible players,per Isaac Azout of Fish On First.
- TheMets are non-tendering right-handerMax Kranick, according toWill Sammon of The Athletic. Kranick, 28, posted a 3.65 ERA in 37 innings with the Mets this year. It was his first big league opportunity since a five-inning cameo with the Pirates back in 2022. Kranick’s season came to an abrupt end back in July due to flexor tendon repair surgery. SouthpawsJose Castillo andDanny Young were also non-tendered,Sammon adds. Young had Tommy John surgery back in May. Castillo was a waiver claim who pitched for four different teams in 2025.
- The Nationals tendered contracts to their entire roster, per a team announcement.
- ThePadresannounced that leftyOmar Cruz and rightySean Reynolds were non-tendered. Neither was arbitration-eligible. They tendered contracts to every member of their arbitration class.
- The Phillies non-tendered rightiesMichael Mercado andDaniel Robert, neither of whom was arbitration-eligible. They’re both free agents. The Phils tendered contracts to all of their arb-eligible players otherwise.
- The Pirates non-tendered outfieldersAlexander Canario andRonny Simon, as well as rightiesColin Holderman andDauri Moreta. All four were designated for assignment earlier in the week. Holderman was projected for a $1.7MM salary and Moreta for $800K. The others weren’t arb-eligible.
- The Reds announced that catcherWill Banfield and right-handersCarson Spiers andRoddery Munoz were not tendered contracts. They’re all free agents. None of the three were arbitration-eligible, but by non-tendering them rather than designating them for assignment, Cincinnati bypasses the need to place them on waivers and can try to quickly re-sign any of the bunch to minor league deals, if the Reds are so inclined.
- The Rockies non-tendered first basemanMichael Toglia, the team announced. He’d been designated for assignment earlier in the week, making today’s non-tender all but a formality.

Joey will get a deal. Safest guy to have around when the year goes to ish and he comes up for 5 games wirh a 2ERA

Hate to see Pozo go, but with so many other qualified catches in the organization it is understandable.

On top of that, Robberse doesn’t have a fastball. Same with unprotected Rule 5 guys in AA, Pete Hansen and Hancel Rincon.
Guys with heat get priority in Bloom and Cerf’s wider roster.
the list of 40 man roster pitchers rehabbing from TJ is awfully crowded. Robberse was the least hyped.
I suspect they’ll resign Robberse to a MiLB deal so he doesn’t occupy a 40-man spot. Would be a creative way to forego the waiver process if they’re worried about that.

I understand if the Dodgers couldn’t have Phillips taking a 40-man spot in his situation but I hope they have something planned for him.

Phillips just had TJ surgery. Next season is pretty much lost….
How does that work? He had surgery for an injury doing the job for the Dodgers. Who handles his rehab? I would hope the team someone was injured playing for would see the rehab through until signing with another team. Maybe not rehab with the team but pay for it.
Phillips is done in LA – he will likely go to another team to do a show me what you have now contract – where the dodgers would have little room for him to showcase much
Reminds me of ATL’s contract they gave Kirby Yates that had 1M cover his TJ season, then didn’t pitch much the 2nd season finishing rehab and 3rd season was an option where he struck out 80 in 60 IP with a 3.28 ERA (4.63 FiP), before signing a multi-year deal with TEX and becoming an AS. And it should be noted that Yates was 34 y/o at the time of the TJS, while Phillips at TJS at 30 y/o.
Someone should sign him. Bring him back to ATL.

The Padres cleared two spots on their 40 man roster and both were relievers. Does chipping out a couple of pieces of their relief depth mean they are not planning to move one of their relievers into a starting spot? What do you think Padres fans?
Don’t see any BP pieces being traded – lost Suarez and Adam may miss a few weeks combined with maybe a reliever going to SP role. I’m actually surprised with only 36 on the 40 man to start the day that they would tender both of those guys.
SR has been useful with some upside (not crazy upside but 6-7 inning guy with multiple innings guy.
Even if one of their RPs is converted to SP, they still have a lot of RP depth, including 2 or 3 prospects who seem ready to contribute at ML in 2026….B. Rodriguez (especially), Hawkins, and perhaps Mendez.
It’s time to start up the When Will the Cubs Make an External Addition? Sweepstakes for this year. You’ll recall Hoyer didn’t move a muscle until January two years ago; might he wait that long this time too? Longer? He should be embarrassed that there are 30 men on the 40-man roster right now, but as we all know, he doesn’t embarrass easy.
I’m guessing they’ll sign some disappointingly meh spot starter type a few days after the Winter Meetings. I’ll go with Dec. 19. What’s your guess?

Yohan Ramirez, Cam Sanders & Joey Bart should’ve all been non-tendered as well.

McGuire made sure it was only a voice call then said, “Don’t worry Jed, I’m already parked.”
Does anyone at MLBTR double-check their own reporting? Atlanta claimed Alek Manoah off waivers on September 26, two days before the end of the season. MLBTR reported that waiver move at the time.

reality of the business can be rough. sure both sides would prefer to keep a relationship its just not in the cards w roster spots being so valuable. good luck going forward Mr. Phillips and thanks for the memories.
Just because they didn’t offer him a contract didn’t mean he can’t resign with them at songs point. He likely isn’t pitching in the upcoming season.
I look forward to Phillips being on the Dodgers during the so called lost season.
I like to see the Angels take a flier on Manoah. Maybe Maddux can fix him. He sure as hit a wall.
Manoah might be best served trying RP for a while. He could probably do better maxing out over a short appearance.
The Marlins should be considering some players on this article, most notably LHs John King and Jose Castillo. Both were meh this season but that’s still better than Josh Simpson.
Other bullpen arms to look at are Omar Cruz, Jorge Alcalá, Tommy Henry, Max Kranick, Dauri Moreta, and old friend Sean Reynolds.
There is not a ton to see from the position players. Maybe Toglia and Banfield, but only under minor-league contracts.
I’ll add that guy Roshi from the D’backs. I just looked at his stats and it is quite interesting, the type of arm Bendix would like to have.
I could see the Cardinals deal Sonny Gray to Atlanta for one of the Braves 10-20 pitching prospects (someone like Garrett Baumann or Luke Sinnard) and Alek Manoah.
Manoah was non-tendered, thus he is a free agent.
Crap, thanks. I was thinking his situation was the same as the guys who are essentially DFAd. I wasn’t paying attention.
I am not happy about the Cubbies letting Reese McGuire go. He was good behind the plate and could handle pitchers. This could come back to haunt the Cubbies unless then can re-sign him.
