Spent time with three different organizations, opening the year with Washington, before signing minor league contracts with Detroit (June 29) and the New York Yankees (Aug. 18) ... Made a combined 22 Major League appearances between Washington and Detroit ... Placed on the 10-day Injured List (viral infection) on April 26…reinstated on June 8 after a 10-game rehab assignment with Harrisburg (AAA)…released on June 23 ... Signed by the Tigers on June 29 and made six appearances with Toledo (AAA), before being recalled on July 15… designated for assignment on Aug. 8 ... Signed by the Yankees on Aug. 18, but made just one appearance with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, allowing four runs in 0.1-inning to Buffalo.

2017

In his final year with St. Louis, went 3-4 with a 3.40 ERA (18 ER in 47.2 IP), converting 11-of-13 (84.6%) of save opportunities ... Among Major League relievers, his 14.35 K/9 (76 K) ranked fifth (min. 45.0 IP), trailing Craig Kimbrel (16.43), Dellin Betances (15.08), Corey Knebel (14.92) and Kenley Jansen (14.36) ... Had two stints on the Injured List, March 30-April 10 (strained right lat) and Aug. 17-Nov. 6 (right posterior elbow irritation)…underwent Tommy John ligament-replacement surgery on Aug. 30.

Began the season as the Cardinals designated closer and saved 14-of-17 games before role was shifted to SeungHwan Oh...Missed 46 games on the disabled list (7/26-9/14) with right shoulder inflammation...Finished the season with 14 saves, 2nd on the team. Made Major League debut at MIL (7/18), throwing a scoreless inning with two strikeouts, his first strikeout was of Corey Hart registering third strike at 100 MPH. Averaged 97.4 MPH on his fastball,ranking 5th among all MLB pitchers. Posted scoreless outings in 15-of-19 appearances; struck out 25 batters in 22.2 innings. Had a season high of 3.0 innings in relief at PIT(8/29) allowing one hit with three strikeouts. Suffered first career loss on a 10th-inning walk-off two-run home run to Anthony Rizzo at Chicago (7/29) at Wrigley Field. Finished season with seven scoreless appearances totaling 7.1 innings, and extended it into the playoffs to 16.0 with seven scoreless appearances totaling 8.2 more innings. Held right-handed batters to a .200 BA(9-45) with one home run (2 extra base hits total) and left-handed batters to a .143 BA (5-35) with one home run (only extra base hit). Was a combined 8-6 with a 2.97 ERA in 20 starts between Springfield (AA) and Memphis (AAA), posting 104 strikeouts in 109.0 innings. Named Cardinals Minor League Pitcher of the Month for May (5GS, 3-1, 1.65ERA, 27.1 IP, 21K). Selected to the Texas League All-Star North squad.
