Boyband One Direction helped make it the best night ever forChildren in Need - raising £31m and smashing all records.
The lads were joined by a long list of celebrities, includingsinger Ellie Goulding,X-Factor's JLS,comedian Harry Hill and the cast of Eastenders for the charity telethon.
Olympic ice dancers Torvill and Dean swapped their skates for the Strictly dance floor to go head-to-head on the night, with Jane Torvill lifting the trophy.
There was also a world preview of the 50th anniversary episode of Doctor Who.
Presenter Sir Terry Wogan, who was joined by co-hosts Fearne Cotton,Strictly's Tess Daly, Zoe Ball and Radio One DJ Nick Grimshaw, said he was overwhelmed at the response.
With donations still rolling in from events held across the country, he said: "It's hard for me to speak of it, absolutely brilliant.
"It's been a staggering total, it's beyond our wildest dreams, over £31m for this country's disadvantaged children.
"I want to thank you, thank you so much for your contributions, thank you."
