Named in honour of the Russian crystallographer and mineralogist Victor Anatol`evich Drits (Виктор Анатольевич Дриц) (born 1932) from Geological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia.
Unique combination of elements (the first approved natural lithium chloride). One of the most alkaline lithium minerals.
2H polytype
Chemically but not structurally the Cl-analogue ofakopovaite (not a true analogy).
