Name:
Named in honor of Francesco Vanini (b. 1947), Italian mineral collector and specialist for exotic mineral associations in the Alps. Mr. Vanini has been involved in the discovery of rare Mn-bearing minerals, especially, arsenates and phosphates, and he collected samples bearing at least five new-mineral species.
