Name:
Named in honor of Gerhard Lagaly (b. 14 October 1938, Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany), professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Kiel, Germany. He is a specialist in clay chemistry and developed the Alkylammonium Method for the determination of layer charge in layered aluminosilicates.
