Ore minerals are chiefly pyrite and minor chalcopyrite with native gold, but locally argentiferous galena is prominent. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings. Principal workings are a 900 foot, steeply inclined shaft with 4 levels, a 600 foot crosscut adit, drifts, and other crosscut adits of unknown length.
Intermittently operated through the 1870's. Most of the development and sustained mining occurred during the period 1895-1900 and about $482,000 (period values) was recovered during this period. A small production was recorded during the period 1940-1942, when 942 tons of ore yielded only 133 ounces of Au and 33 ounces of Ag. Little or no work has been done since 1942. Total estimated production was estimated to be about $500,000 (period values).
