Minerals listed are mainly from a volcanic fumarole deposit (minerals are formed by sublimation from volcanic gases).

From shoshonitic basalt lava flow and scoria samples collected from the last effusive activity (November 1975) zoned plagioclase and grains of saccharoidal azure quartz have been identified in the light fraction. The heavy fraction contains dark green pyroxene, olivine, dark green spinel, monticellite, and brown kimzeyite (Munno et al., 1980).

K-Ar dating of the major volcanic units (Gillot & Keller 1993) gave ages ranging from <100 ka and c. 85. ka until the present day.
