Deposit: Discovery year: 1880's deposits consist of large, irregular to roughly tabular bodies of tactite composed chiefly of magnetite, garnet and pyroxene. Tactite includes three distinct varieties, a dark-colored magnetite-fluorite-helvite ribbon rock, a lighter-colored silicate-rich ribbon rock, and a fluorite-rich massive tactite.
